Oh dear! I was blown away today by a P reg Escort 1.6 16v and to rub salt into the wounds it was a woman driver! My Stilo just couldn't stay with it no matter how hard I pushed it, anyone know why?

Thanks for that, but I'm still gutted, I had a 1.6 Brava prior to the Stilo and it was a lot quicker, perhaps it's a weight thing, or maybe just the fact that with all the regulation on emissions, engines are suffocated, hence the poor performance. My first car was a 1982 FIAT 127 1300 GT back in 1988 and bugger did it go, it'd stick with those XR2s and in those days and they were a 1600, ahh, sorry I'm harping on about the good old days, when FIATs went like s**t off a shovel but rusted away, now they've got the rust thing sorted and gone backwards on the engines................who knows?

Used to have an Escort (although mine was a 1.8) and it did go like s*** off a shovel. Didn't handle too bad either. It was just a pity that it looked like a piece of rubbish.

Like Steve says above - The Stilo is a far superior car in every other way than an Escort or a Focus. It's just that Ford really do know how to make boy racer motors!!

I do aplogise Dawn. However, you have got it all wrong. You have misinterpreted what I was saying. We do not think that we are gods gift to the driving world. That is a common mistake made by the fairer sex. We KNOW we are gods gift to the driving world.
