My engine fault light came on today, The engine was coughing and spluttering (seemed to be firing on only 3 cylinders) RAC confirmed coil in number 3 cylinder faulty by changing coil over with cylinder 4 coil and the fault went to cylinder 4 misfire.

Does anyone know how much for a new coil from Fiat?, and can anyone recommend anywhere cheaper? ( I live in Mansfield Nottingham)

Thanks for any help, very grateful, cheers.

If you are still in Warranty - Fiat should do this.

I had exactly the same problem in the middle of wales. After 60 mile round trip on a train to fetch a new one, fitted it, worked straight away, but warning light still stayed. drove up to fait place to have it removed by computer. 2 minutes away from garage i stalled the car - guess what, restarted the car and fault warning was gone! saved myself £40 and was at the coast so went to the beach with the kids.

how many yrs has the 1.6 and 1.8 16v engines going to have a coil pack problem? fiat modified the packs on the brava/bravo.obviously not well enough.btw, wrongly set plug gaps can knacker coil packs.if the gap is to big,the coil has to work very hard to fire the plug leading to premature failure.

Thanks for the help folks.

Coil on cyl3 changed, cost £35 inc VAT. 10 minutes to change. Didn't bother even asking if it was covered by warranty..
