Hi guys, new problem!

The right left brake lights seems to be coming on and off so I keep getting a diognosis light come up and go away and come up and go away etc etc,

I think it might be a loose connection and would like to check it myself but... I have no idea how to get to it..

Could I have some help please! *begs*

I have alseo seen someone on here *cant remember who* has a service manual on cd, would it be possible to get a copy or where I could get a copy from [ebay seems the best bet however there are a couple of verisons, which is best?]

One more thing! :p

Is the passenger side front head light supposed to be dim?

Do you mean your brake lights are flashing on and off without hitting the brake pedal? Adjust the brake light switch next to the brake pedal

*bad description*

The break light seems to work when ever I test it, its the diagnostic light is the light that comes on and goes off then comes on again! Sorry for my bad description!

So you're saying that the diag light on your instrument panel is the one that is going on and off?

No. Both lights should be equally bright....

This might be your problem. Replace the bulb as this might be blown. This could also be the cause of the diag light flashing.

If the bulb inside the light is not blown, then you have a loose / bad connecion on the light... which could also cause the flashing diag light. (y)

The diagnosis light is coming on showing an error for a bit then going off again. It doesn't seem to be realted to me breaking or going over bumps.

For example: I was out driving for two hours the other day and it didn't come on oncefor the whole two hoursbut just as I pulled into my drive *beep beep* "Stop Light" error. It stayed on for a couple of seconds then it went off.

I'm just going to try and find where the bulbs at the back fit just to check, but how in gods name do I change the front head light?!

Sorry mate... your post is a bit confusing...
Why do you think the problem is with the brake light? Is that the error display you get?

Will tell you in my next post how to change the light bulb.... (sounds like the beginning of a joke :p )

Sorry about that. I'm awfull at writing straight forward sentences. I've done a bit of editing and I hope it makes better sense now!

It says "Stop Light" with an arrow pointing to the left on the display

How to change front left headlamp bulb on Stilo

The following steps have to be done in sequence.....
1.) Disconnect negative battery terminal (remove battery cover first)
2.) Disconnect the electrical connection on the front left lights cluster (round thing with lots of wires coming out of it)
3.) Disengage the bulb compartment cover from the fixing clip. (on the back of the light cluster)
4.) Remove the direction indicator bulb. (no need to disconnect electrical connection)
5.) Disconnect the electrical connection for the left dipped beam bulb. Disengage the bulb from the fixing clips. REmove the dipped beam bulb.
6.) Remove the side light bulb with bulb holder. Remove the front fog lamp bulb.
7.) Disconnect the electrical connector for the main beam bulb. Disengage the main beam bulb from the fixing clips. Remove the main beam bulb.

Refitting is the reverse of removing.....

Loverly! Thank you! Going to get a replacement bulb at lunch. So that can be something to do when I get back from work tonight!

Try sorting the headlamp bulb out first... if the bulbs are fine, it must be a loose/bad connection somewhere. After sorting the front bulb, go drive around and see if you still get the error message. If you do, then worry about the brake light. Rather sort one thing at a time, this way you know where the problem lies. If you do 10 things to the car and something fixes it... you won't know what fixed the problem... and you won't be able to come back to the forum and tell us how you fixed it. ;)

(ps. will see if I can find out when the error display is shown.)

I'd be tempted to sort the brake light first. After all, it's also for your safety. What happens if someone doesn't notice you braking and one of your brake lights doesn't work....

AFAIK Fiat dealers change the headlight bulbs free of charge.

I totally agree that a non-working break light could be dangerous...

But this leads me to believe that the break light is working:

Cool I'll look at that when I get home.

Took the car in for a service and they said the back light had gone, the front head light bulb had blown...

AND.... AND I have sto pay out 70 odd quid for the "high break light"? The one at the top of my rear window.

the bulbs not blown. Its the acutal ciruitry that has blown so its covered under my warranty

Charging for bulb replacement has come up before, dont think all garages do it for free.........i know mine doesnt!

Are you sure? My local dealer told me thats what they'd been told to do in some memo they received.

Changing dip beam on a stilo near side (passengers) involves taking battery out etc...no garage would do this for free as its a good half hour job unless you have long thin fingers like E.T. !!!
