Hi, I have owned Fiats for years and I instantly fell in love with the 3 door Stilo when it was launched. Ideally, I'd have liked an Abarth but it was out of my budget. Anyway, I went down to my local Fiat dealer and after a test drive I decided that I'd buy the Active Sport model. The dealership wouldn't budge from the £11600 list price, wether I paid cash, cheque or as the saleman put it Greenshield stamps and they only offered me £1200 part exchange on my four year old Brava. So I surfed the internet and ended up buying one from Jamjar, exact same car, brand new, delivered to me in two weeks for, wait for it..................£8995! I have now owned this car for four months and covered 5000 miles, ok the spare wheel was missing and the 12v socket in the boot wasn't there, but Fiat instantly gave me a spare wheel and compensated me for the 12v socket not being there, to the tune of £125, this was all done through the dealership which wouldn't give me a deal in the first place which made it all the better! It has been a superb purchase, no rattles, no shakes, fantastic build quality, anyone who critisizes these cars should get out there and test drive one instead of being sucked in to the Golf/Focus clone mould that roam our streets. Ok, residuals are poor, but who gives a s**t? You get a well built, well equipped, good looking motor and people stop to look at you in the street. Don't be a sheep following the Ford Focus herd. I love the fact that where I work, there is only 1 Stilo in the car park out of 1200 motors and it's mine. I have added 17 inch alloys and it looks sublime. Any one doubting the quality of this car, take it from me, get out there and buy one!

Just for the record:

Jamjar is a joint venture between direct line and dixon motors.

I looked at Jamjar, and then ordered direct from Dixons www.dixonmotors.co.uk as they were cheaper - I guess one less middle man!

I hope its worth the wait - its a bit of a leap of faith from a 3 series touring to a Stilo!

I went the jamjar route intially, but then approached my local dealer telling them that I was 100% on buying the car, but it was up to them as to whether they got my business or Jamjar. After a couple of weeks and several phone calls they eventually came up with a figure of £9135, only £140 more than Jamjar, but gaining a 3rd year dealership warranty and the full AA cover! and I guess also just as important to some people - the added piece of mind of having a "face" to talk to....

For the money, what an absolute gem of a car! I also have a Focus, and I tell yer, there really is no comparision. The Stilo tops it in every aspect!

Good call Stuie - Having driven a Focus you can tell that nobody else even thinks of a Stilo before going down the same old Golf/Focus route. I will admit I did the same (Golf) about three years ago and it was a big mistake. Dull slow piece of junk. :(

Big up the Stilo!!

BTW, you get the 3rd year dealer warranty and the AA cover from Jamjar too:D

TC, interested to hear you were compensated for the lack of 12v in the boot, I wonder if its too late for me to make a fuss?

James, I picked it up a couple of days after purchasing the car, they also compensated me for putting the wrong spare wheel in the boot, in the specs it said, Space Saver Spare Wheel, in my boot was a normal one!

The only other thing that was missing from the original specs was the Puddle Lights, but I never bothered to chase this up.

Well, I've written to Jamjar about it, had to send them my service history book anyway as they hadn't stamped the predelivery bit, so we'll see, would be nice tho as it'd buy me a sub:D

My puddle lights are there, I guess I'm quite lucky on that one, plenty of people seem to be lacking them, and I quite like them, a few passengers have commented they are a nice touch.

Didn't you make a fuss about them being missing? you might have got a little more cash;)

All in all I would def go back to Jamjar (or whichever other online resource is offering the best deal), as the £3500 I saved was worth the bit of chasing after them I had to do:)

same thing the dealer wouldent budge from his book price. went to dixon direct and they messed it up so went to tsb car select, screen price was £200 more than dixon but gave a discount. orded leather, mp3, 17" wheels, sky roof & radio controls on wheel and still came out cheeper than deales list. the point been tsb orded the car from same dealer and delivery is late so they have had to give me curtasy car.
