Has anyone had any experience of this on 2.4 stilos?
Do you mean the front backrest? Nope, sorry... mine has never given me hassles.
Failures like these should be covered under your warrantee... (y)

The seats, or at least the driver’s seat / driving position is one of the few things I’m a bit disappointed with on my 3 door JTD. (The others are road noise on certain surfaces; the lack of somewhere to put my left foot and having to manually switch the stereo off - moan over!)

To me, the 3 door feels like the sort of car you want to sit low in. When I collected my car from the dealer I lowered the seat and steering column and drove off. However after a while I found the position uncomfortable – the base of my back was hurting. After trying different seat position combinations I realised the problem is that the when you lower the seat, the angle of the base merely changes, so that when it is at its lowest, there is a big gap between the base and the back of the seat. This causes strain on your back – or at least it does on mine!

I’ve found the most comfortable position is with the seat base quite high but that means I feel as if I’m sitting “on” the seat rather than “in” it, if you get what I mean.

Like ActiveMatt, I also get the feeling that the base sinks down over time and I have to raise it back up again with a couple of pulls on the lever. I was putting this down to the car trying to tell me that I needed to go on a diet (true!), but maybe it’s a common problem?

Are there any modifications / recalls etc relating to the seats?

You can set the radio to come on and off with the ignition by entering the menu on the set, read the manual and it shows you how, you will also find out the set has a graphic equaliser and many other features that need setting up.

Now for a little confession, there is no problem with the seats on 2.4s, or any other stilo. A friend accused the forum of being a group of whingers who would grab onto any fault put to them and moan. I disagreed and asked him to pick a fault that had no known problems, that was why I was so specific regarding the 2.4. There is no problems with stilo seats and they do not collapse, in fact I know of several very large people driving them around since launch with no problems at all.

Thankyou for proving to my friend the value of your opinions.

NumanR,

Thanks, I’ll have look at the stereo manual and see if I can set it up to work that way – I only found it had an equaliser by accident one day!

Well it looks like you and your clever mate  was wronge(y) as in my 1600 stilo active the recline on the driver seat as seized solid (manual) :bang: so i hope you will still see him to let him know
