Today I met the boys from Angel Tuning. Nigel forgot I was coming but when I got there he was very accommodating and called Andy who had the kit. Within the hour the job was done. Nigel gave it a blast and asked me to have a go. Quite pleased about that cause he scared me a bit. Now, being a very sedate driver I took it leisurely but noticed the improvement immediately. It wasn't until I got nearer Birmingham (Chav Central) that I had chance to give it some oomph. Typical clown in a tarted up Focus right up my rear with nowhere to go. I have never notice that puff of smoke until today but christ, thats all that was there when I left him behind. It's not till you look at the speedo that you appreciate the speed your'e going. In all a great improvement on something that I already thought was brilliant.

People, for those of you with a JTD, pay these blokes a visit and find out what you are missing. Oh, and be careful out there.

Thanks to the yellow Abarth for giving me the flash/warning about the arsehole in the speedamera van.

Thanks for coming over Bozzy and sincere apologies, it was a vey long week for us and Friday was a nightmare, no excuse though - it was entirely my fault as I didn't put you in the book. Good job the missus was dressed!

Very nice car you have there too :)

Of course it can, you just need an understanding dealer to take it in on a part exchange.

LOL. I've considered bumping up my HP and doing that.... not sure i'd appreciate the insurance on a faster motor though...

I was down the pub with Bob in Disguise the other day and I mentioned the Stilo JTD as a possible next car for me but was curious as to what the car is like before and after Angel Tuning have their fun.

Can anyone give me real opinions of the car before and after?

Is it true that the remap is untraceable except on a rolling road?

I know the remap and CDA take the car to 155bhp but how does it actually feel to drive? Is it very responsive?

Any bad points to watch out for? both before and after the work

Sorry for all the questions but the thought of a 155bhp Stilo for the same insurance group as a 1.2 Fiesta is quite appealing :D

My real opinion of before and after is well documented on this forum. There are no "iff's or butts", it's so very noticeable as to be a transformation. And that's on a JTD that Nigel from Angel Tuning said was a very quick example anyway.

From 115 to 155 approx is a big jump. I was most dubious of the results. Being a "glass half empty" kind of bloke I thought I would be asking for a refund which comes as part of the package. Take a look at their website and get all the answers there. There is some info on the traceability of a re-map but when I declared mine the Insurance Company (Zurich) had no method for rating a software re-map. Made no difference to my premium. However, they have seen an increase in these MTA's and it's activated a request for change to their rating method. They are gonna get me next year.

well he certainly likes you guys:

"The service they gave was first class and are geniuinly nice guys. thourghly recomended to anyone with a turbo! Best money i have ever spent on my car without question." (and hes right :D )

would like to see the stats though :chin:

Well this is sounding more and more tempting as I read further. I have looked at Angel Tuning's site many times (its in my favourites both at work and at home:) )

Unfortunately its not going to be for a while as I have not long brought the Punto but rest assured I will be staying in the Fiat Family for a while to come.

I am a big fan of the Stilo as it stands, love the looks from the front and the side, the back is starting to grow on me and the car as a whole is a big hit in my books.

Anyway cheers for the info folks, its appreciated (y)

Nige, I know the limit for your ECU method is 1999 - does that mean after 1999 or including? I'm looking at a Marea 1.9 JTD on V plate. Would be good to know if it can be tweeked or not.

The actual reason is that we took a business decision some years back not to work on cars over 5 years old - however that was in 2002, but never got updated after 2004 lol! We still work on any JTD or Alfa from 1997 onwards if its in good condition.

Therefore give us a call or email us (please don't PM!) and we will sort it for you
