My hand brake has failed 4 times over the last couple of weeks. The first time I thought it was me maybe not putting it on properly but now i am convinced that it is at fault.
I apply the brake as normal and then get out of the car to open my gate, after afew seconds (first time it failed after about 10 ,once after about a few minutes)the lever drops and the car rolls.
Luckily the slope has been flat enough for me to jump back in and apply the foot brake.
I am planning to take it to the dealer tomorrow to be checked, but I am sure that they will just put the brake on and off a few times and then report that it is fine.
If I try to get it to fail it works fine,it has only happened 4 times in 2 months of ownership.
If the brake fails and the car rolls into a wall I will never get Fiat to take responsiblity.
Has any one heard of this one ?any ideas?

Not sure what would be causing it (although it sounds very much like the handbrake button spring or similar) but in the meantime, just make sure you park in gear and you should be OK.

Let us know what your dealer says.

The spring or the metallic pin has loosen or it was loosen too much ;) if they dont change the handbrake and they just fix it its about 10 minutes work maybe less
