Have any of you Stilo Dynamic owners out there noticed if your seat fabric is wearing out? My cars done 17,000 miles and the seat fabric has started to wear. at first I thought it had just gone flat with being sat on, but after giving it a bit of a clean to try and raise the pile again I could see the fabric was beginning to go threadbare, and the threads are white. A few more months and it'll start looking really bad. I think another trip to the dealers is on the cards.....

Anybody know of a company that do leather conversions, and if so how much?

Thats strange because my velvet looks in a perfect condition but i dont wear jeans all the time why dont you put seat-covers to prevent extended damage.Sorry about the leather conversion but i cant help you as you live in UK

yeah the same happened to me and i had the car only 7 months its like the threads are worn out and the main thread is revealed and is white i cant seem to explain this and its only on the sides of the bucket seat where the side of your hip is

My seats are doing it to, only slightly, but because my seats are black, it is noticeable, also on the side of the passenger door too.
My car has done 20k miles, and has had one previous owner, let me know how you get on.

I agree with Steve C - You warranty should cover this. The seat fabric in cars is designed to last for the same time as the "useful life" as the car. In mainstream cars (such as Fiat, Ford Vauxhall, etc) this useful life should equate to around 100K miles. The seat should cope with the demands of being sat on until well on the way to this mileage.

Get your dealer to sort it out!

There are plenty of leather trimmers about in the UK. Some have been mentioned in this forum - Perhaps someone can recommend a company..... Cost is generally about +/- £1000 depending on exactly what you want done.

2003 Silver 3-Door Abarth

My seat cover allready has been exchanged once (at about 22.000 km), but after a few weeks the white gleam already started to return.
As my dealer had had several complaints about it, he´s now contacting the head office, because exchanging it again with the same velours vega (velvelt) fabric just will not fix it.

My local dealer has ordered new covers for both seat bases, and the drivers seat back. Now i know why new dynamics have different upholstery fabric. I don't think seat covers would make a great deal of difference because it's still fabric rubbing against fabric, and besides they look horrible. I'll report again when they've been fitted.

My Stilo was also bought from Mangoletsi and when I have taken mine In to have a number of seat covers replaced, they claimed that they knew of no others with the same problem.Who are you dealing with In Fiat Service?I am going In again tomorrow to see Paul who to be fair has been brilliant.

If you check out the posts you'll find that there are others who have had this problem, it's generally with the Velour upholstery though, it wears out quickly and FIAT have had to replace many a seat!

The regionmanager came over to look at another car with the same problem, now my dealer tries to convince me it isn´t wear, it just needs to be cleaned with a special cleaner.
That´s because it is a "delicate" fabric and he won´t change the covers anymore. [!][V]

My only option (according to him) was to phone up the headoffice...

Now probably were going to go public, iow contact tv-shows like Watchdog.

Well i dunno about how your dealers are but my local dealer thank god ordered new seat cover for the driver and the foam on the seat because i dunno why it seems the seat has worn out to the point that the metal bar on the side went through the foam and can slightly feel it when i sit. i mean ok i am sort of a big guy but comeee onnn. in my old punto which i had for 6 years i never had this problem and not only that lets just say that there was the combined weight of two people a good number of times on the driver seat

I've had the seat covers on my car replaced and although the fabric looks the same it feels a little different compared to the back seats and door trim. Could it be that the fabric has been changed somehow to make it more robust? I suppose only time will answer. I also had a list of four other things I wanted looking at. One of them they made worse, the other three they didn't have a clue. Well.... at least the interior looks nice again.

What were the other items? Maybe someone on here can help you to 'help' your dealer?

I had the same problem with my seats, but fiat changed them in no time( well the time to ask for the replacement parts).
I must say that the car is great i bought mine a year ago(brand new),
and with exception of minor problems it's a great stuning car( 3 door).
I aldo bought the original fiat seat covers for the stilo, they came in dark blue and look great.

Well The front suspension squeaks on speed ramps, They've ordered another shocker for the front and they're gonna apply some new grease to the whole thing to cure it??????? The front brake pads are clunking about on bumps and stuff, so i'm having new brake pads fitted because i'm sick of hearing them. The car's tracking is out, and when they try and straighten it up, the steering wheel ends up wonky. apparently it needs a four wheel track. when I can get it into the place again. And finally the low oil pressure warning comes up in the display sometimes when I start the car up. They tell me it's a software problem, and they don't know how to cure it. Apart from that the cars great.
