Styling How to paint calipers

I painted the calipers on my motor red the other day and they have come up great, I found this thread after I painted them but I did them more or less the same way as the advice on this thread they came up really good. :slayer:

Hammerite smooth is Ok alex its the only paint Ive ever used (y) just make sure you give the calipers a good wire brushing and dont try and use a big brush for all places get some smaller ones to.Dont also do it on very hot or cold days and dont try to brush it out to much dont keep going over the same places or the finnish becomes :yuck: on the right day in the correct temp it goes on well (y)Oh and dont forget to buy some thinners also .

How is the hammerite smooth going after time mark? :D was looking at yellow caliper paint but if hammerite will do the job i'll do my Uno tub' calipers in hammerite smooth  :D
Still absolutely fine mate, no peeling or signs of colour problems, I just wash them over each time I clean the wheels and they are still as good as new (y)

Well, i think it's fair to say that today's attempt to paint just one caliper has been a nightmare.

firstly, can i say how difficult it is to clean the damn things.

secondly, the british weather has it in for me, i decided that i wouldn't get a full no rain break to do it, so i set to it, no sooner had i started the cleaning process, as the heavens opened.
i've done the first layer of paint, and so far i've had every different element the skies could throw at me, and i've lost feeling in my hands from the cold.

other than that, the 1 brake caliper i've done look (y)

What paint you useing Seraph ? and you should really plan this kind of activity acording to the weather  :D

i did. but i figured if i don't get it done i never will.

I'm using hammerite smooth, standard blue (it's very much the same colour as momo royal blue, which is what's on my interior accesories.

Hammerite is OK just dont mess about with it to much lay it on and dont go over it unless it runs you will get a better finish then (y) you are painting the whole caliper I take it and not just the front  use a wire brush and some WD40 that gets the crap off and use plenty of old rags to wipe the WD40 and muck of after Happy Painting (y)

i used caliper paint from halfords because it can handle hight temps i can show a picture, but they are unfinished :yum:

well i'm painting every sufrace i can get to. so just about everywhere, i would rather have taken them off, but weather permitting and all that.

it seems to have settled fine, as for whether or not it's cleaned enough before hand, i'm gonna run the one completed caliper in for a bit to see how well it holds before i waste time on the rest.
