General Strange antifreeze problem

Hi again (Fiat Stilo Dynamic 1.6 52 plate) I have had this for 12 months, it has been serviced twice still only done 22.000 mls.
I have always done checks on usual things.
but lately (last 2 weeks) anti freeze is disappearing at an alarming rate.
I top up with water, next day after 5 mile run, down to minimum again.
No apparent leaks or drips, no water in oil, water temp O.K


Also after all this time, whilst checking under the bonnet, I didn't even realise that it was electric powered steering (no wonder I could'nt find the top up DOH! )

I presume you mean you're losing engine coolant when say antifreeze disappearing.

First question is have you experienced on engine overheat recently, ran out of engine coolant?

The water's got to be going somewhere so worse case is head gasket gone, water turned to steam and disappears down exhaust.
Symptoms might be poor starting, brown froth at oil filler cap or in coolant top up tank, cold heater, gurgling noises in water pipes

Could be water pump leak in which case the leak, if it's small enough, running onto hot engine makes water evaporate.
Symptoms usually see drips of water on floor and pump will start to make grinding noises and get progressively worse as pump bearings wear out

Could have heater leak inside car
Symptoms antifreeze or dampness smell in car

Could have radiator leak
Look for traces of a large leak, blue deposits on track of leak

It needs sorting pronto and don't run the car if the engine is overheating at any time as it'll be guaranteed expensive cylinder head gasket replacement
