Ok didnt read the whole thread so forgive me if i am duplicating another thread.
Linking 2 batteries together CAN fry the ECU.
A lot of modern cars have to have specific batteries designed for that model as they require a certain ampage for the very sensative electronic sensors.
Even putting on the wrong amped battery can, over time, fry the ECU.
A lot of garages (if they are worth there salt) will advise you to go to a dealer if you have a car like this (i.e. the renault megane, laguna) as apposed to giving you the wrong battery.
They dont cost anymore than normal but could save you a small fortune in the long run.
