hello there

I have just bought a elm327 lead for multiecuscan software, I can't get it to read the service reset, I have read about the resistor being removed for it to work but mine is a v1.4 lead and the diagrams shown for this r14 resistor is nothing like my version of the lead, can anyone point me in the right direction to modify this version of elm327 lead ??

many thanks

V1.4 is just the version of the I.C. inside the interface. Without knowing which interface you have, it's not possible to say which resistor you need to remove. Picture below is of an interface which has had R04 removed.

If this is not your interface, there's a very long thread about modifying various interfaces on the Multiecuscan website here: http://forum.multiecuscan.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1493.

thankyou for reply and info mate, however I have looked at that thread in depth and can't find any pics that resembles mine, I think its the leds that throw me because there nothing like mine, mine are like small diode type they not tall plastic coloured tops like the pics show, suggesting its proberly a different circuit bourd, I want to make sure I'm on right track before I go hacking at resistors, besides I have a feeling that its a connection mis-match, cuz it tells me to check elm lead, I dunno I find it all confusing

measure the resistance between pin 6 and 14 of the obd2 connector of the interface - when you measure a value around 120 ohm you should remove the resistor (smd code 121)
the resistor is soldered in between these two connections, just follow the tracks on the circuit board....
A CAN network has two 120 ohm termination resistors at both ends which gives a network resistance 0f 60 ohm (2x 120 ohm parallel = 60 ohm)
When you would add a third resistor (inside the ELM interface) that would make 120:3 = 40 ohm instead of the standard 60 ohm which would disturb the CAN bus.

ok, I have found resistor ( didn't look at that thread enough ) sorry!. I have removed the resistor and believe I have connected to the can successfully, however I get a messege on the multiscan saying ( this option is only available on registerd version) and can only use it in simulation mode, do you think if I tried an earlier version of multiscan would solve the problem, I'm running 1.9 at moment?

thanks

oh I see, the service reset is written in black not red so I imagined it was accessable, is there any cracks or keygens knocking about anywhere ?

thanks for reply.

I only wanted to reset the service due message, seems a lot for just a simple reset, will any other software do the same job ?

Hi there,
Can anyone please tell me where is the resistance to terminate.? IMG_20180919_090926.jpegIMG_20180919_090910.jpegIMG_20180919_090854.jpeg
