Checked the related threads on this and my problem is new/hopefully simple.

Before all of my problems with EM and EPS/APS warnings, my remote key intermittently worked to unlock the car. The red LED flashes on it to this day, but now of course it doesn't work at all, except manually. It works in the boot and the ignition fine too. Shall I assume it's a battery thing?? (How do I change, btw?)

I could also be going mad, but I think the central locking isn't working now either, even manually...

Battery changed, still flashing red LED. Old one was a little rusty. NO CHANGE. Still no remote... Out of interest, the third key for the boot hasn't ever worked. Is that a standard thing?

The key(s) may need re-aligning to the car with MES. You would need to get the car's security codes from a dealer.

The boot should open with the same key as the doors and ignition, there shouldn't be a third key. (unless someone has changed the boot lock perhaps).

Key opens doors and boot but that's it. No remote control any more. :^< Car is falling apart.

Sorry, third BUTTON not key! Only have one key. Do dealers charge for the MES/code? It would be nice to have the remote locking back!!

Yes... most Fiat dealers charge up to £45 for the car's security codes, however forum trader @Sturgess Motor Group has a special price for forum members of £12.50 +VAT.
