The snowflake button under the middle heater one is for air conditioning, so you should have it.
.

Cheers for that. I presume it is set the heater to coldest and press that button to operate but I get nothing. Must go blown fuse hunting then as the power socket one was blown. I was kind of hoping they shared the same fuse but it would seem no such luck.

does the light come on?

if not, system may be empty, or you may have a fault such as a sensor (like I did).

No light whatsoever. Can you self refill by tin or is this a dealer thing? Not overly fussed but as far as I can see you pay the extra tax on a AC model so I may as well use the thing. :)

if the light doesn't come on, then there is some other issue-as you say a fuse or even a bulb is blown. The best thing you can do, to be honest, is hook up a laptop and multiecuscan and it will probably tell you straight away what is wrong wit the A/C. that's all I did, didn't mess about, just hooked it up, saw the error, told me it was the sensor. Bought a new one, fitted it, and boom, full aircon! I then went and got it regassed and cleaned.

that said you can refill from a tin, but I wouldn't waste your money at this stage. You need to get that air con light on by way of repairing the fault, you may need the money spent on a tin of air con for a new sensor or something else..

I don't have the cable or anything to rad the codes mate. What I did do was find the fuse (F19-7.5) I took it out and checked it and its fine but swapped it anyway. Air con came one and when I turned the car off and on again I got nothing :( no light and again fuse is fine. Next is to find a tutorial about filling the things and buy a tin of whatever its called.

odd, sounds like an electrical connection issue or just VERY low on gas!. Why don't you just carefully check you have gas in the system - remove the H cap and slowly, carefully-wearing gloves-push the pin - if gas comes out then youre ok. OK, this is a bit naughty advice I know, but its a sure fire way of testing if you have gas or not! You could also try unplugging the sensors and plug them back in.

One is under the car, drivers side going into the pipes. I think the other is connected onto the dryer.

if you have the money, Halfords sell a proper kit with a filler/gauge. I have one, very handy and you can return the bottles for money off the next one. However, I would take it to a garage and have it done properly as the system WILL need a clean.

Also wrth checking the Air Con compressor relay is doing what it should, located in battery fuse board do not remember off hand which one it is, but always worth a quick check to rule it out..

When the compressor for Air con engages you will here a slight clunk and after a short time one of the silver metal pipes will become cold. also the air con does not operate below a certain temperature something like 5 or 6 centergrade but things are warm enough in uk at moment for that not to effect it.

I think I read that operating temperature is 4c mhows. Its 13.5 out so defo not that. I cant properly hear the really over the engine but im am sure that is fine as I had it working again.

Its either a lose connection at the fuse or its empty. Was not sure what valve to press Clivvy as there is two.

Anyway, see the pump/pulley. Does that work on a clutch. It stops and goes with a dull click/thud. It looks like its still spinning but its not and you can hear what sounds like some sort of centrifugal clutch.

you press the H, which is the one closer to the windscreen. The clutch is the little triangular thing inside the compressor - the belt goes over the pulley, so that will be spinning, but if the clutch is static, then (of course) your air con is NOT engaging. If as you say you pulled the fuse, replaced then it ran, but after a restart it failed, then there is some electrical or sensor issue. If you do decide to check if you have any gas in the system, please be careful - don't spray it on your hand or face - just a quick press is sufficient to see if any gas is present-I suspect there isn't.

Interesting thing. I pulled the A/C fuse out with the engine running and it stalled the car. That cant be right can it? That would mean if the fuse popped when going down the road I would brake down.

An annually loss of 10% of the total charge is considered to be normal on any car A/C system
Within 4 years the charge can be so low, that it triggers the low charge switch that's present on any system.
A car A/C system should be serviced at least every two years by a specialist to prevent the above to happen.
Remember, the R134A coolant gas also carries the oil in the system, and when there's not enough gas, there's not enough oil as well, so that's why the system stops.
99% of all car A/C failures is because of low gas.
