hi guys im a week overdue on my mot due to my fusebox deciding to smolder and burnt my starter out but niw the airbag lights on and was told it wont pass a mot so i have been trying to remedy the problem all weekend with no joy

does anyone have any ideas cheers

If you have multiecuscan plug that in and find out exactly what is causing the errors.

Is the light on constantly or does it tend to come on if someone sits in the passenger seat?

First thing would be to clean up all the airbag connectors, main problems come from the ones under the passenger seat and the rear airbags in the boot. Also clean up the contacts on the airbag disabling switch. Remember to disconnect the battery before all of this!

Also do you have an OCS? These tend to fail a lot causing the problem so if cleaning the connectors doesn't work might be worth investing in an emulator

iom going to sort it today hopefullyu as car is out of mot but what winds me up is if fiat knew about this when they made it why didnt they recall it save us spending on the thing all the time ive had the car a year in april and its had 2 starter motors a fusebox its a nightjmare

Should'nt tell you this but blank the bulb off, it's only a fail if the light is on. If it doesn't show then it will only be an advisory.

Try changing the Airbag computer located on the 'transmission' tunnel about 18 inches forward of the gear shift.

Perhaps borrow one or get one from a dismantlers. You would need to get the same model number.

I tried all the usual tricks like cleaning the connectors, cutting them of and soldering, different OCS and an emulator before changing the Airbag sensor unit which was at fault.

Although this one is from a 1.6 it is the same as my unit in the JTD . The number is under the word AIRBAG > 46835521.

Hi. Have you found the connector in the top of the glove box, took me ages to find it gave it a wiggle never had a problem since.

There's also more connectors in the rear of the car, behind the cubby holes in the boot.

Where's this from? I've been led to believe if airbag is fitted and test procedure fails (bulb removed, blown or covered) then this is an MOT failure also
