Hello guys,

I think it might be valuable to others out there if I share with you my experiences with the Yellow exclamation mark on the dash accompanied by the Brke. lamp fail error message.

In my particular case this was caused by an old dried out crystal oscillator on the panel of the dash itself. The reason for the yellow exclamation mark and the Brke lamp fail was that one chip or perhaps a memory of a chip got stuck in some incorrect mode, given the wrong clock signals it was getting from this one particular oscillator crystal.

As I never took apart the dash itself, I asked an electrician friend. He did the job quickly and nicely. Problem went away with putting everything back together.

Hope this helps someone facing the same frustrating Brke. Lamp Fail with Yellow Exclamation mark error.

;)

Hi my car was infected with the brke lamp fail (more and more over time)
i replaced my 8.000mhz clock cristal as sugested and was out of the trouble zone

(unlucky i killed my spedo stepper in this action the metal pin was coming with the needle and had to buy a new speedo stepper for the dash ,luckily got it in home for 23euro,s )

for now all is fine now

thanx wilco

I have managed to remove the instrument cluster from the dash without any problems.

I removed to back of the cluster and exposed the PCB but was wary of removing the PCB as I couldn't see how it was fixed and didn't want to destroy anything by being heavy handed!

Can someone that has done this please tell me how to remove the PCB to replace crystal osc,

TIA
Peat

I have now repaired the cluster - it was the Xtal as suggested. There was a dry joint on one leg but I decided a new Xtal wouldn't hurt so replaced it.

Removing the needles was what I was nervous about and in the end bit the bullet after reading ->
https://www.fiatforum.com/stilo-guides/96473-fitting-new-dials-cluster.html
and pulled them off whilst twisting anti-clockwise, it was difficult but they did eventually come off.

A big Thank you to zoli and our departed fixer-upper Shadeyman for the information.

It's easy when told how to do it! :)

If any one requires a Xtal I have four going free for a SAE. PM me.

Seems that i`m the only one without success trying to repair BRKE. LAMP FAIL error. :(
Replaced the oscillator, but error is still there. ABS module on multiecuscan shows a permanent error

READING ERROR CODES:
1: C1107 - Lost communication with IPC Control Module

So, if anybody have any other idea what should I try next, I will be very thankful.

but for sure NOT >> C1107

you have a different trouble on your car

cheers wilco

Ref C1107 - I also have the same DTC condition/problem, including the "Brke.lamp fail" message - are there any suggestions on the possible cause?
(I would be grateful for any help)

Could this oscillator cause issues with other bulbs in the car... I have an issue now with the car not detecting blown bulbs, it did when I bought it, a few had blown and beep beep and a bulb light on dash comes up... but replaced all bulbs with standard bulbs and even put in some fogs as some idiot before me didn't replace them, just removed them... however, as a test, I could remove a bulb and no error on dash, I could put a blown one in and no error, about a year ago I was down to one rear side light and one brake light, it showed up nothing... when I bought 2yrs ago it was showing bulbs failed until I replaced them all... weird....

hello
the crystal exchanged my friend oscillator but the brake lamp fail an error message is found always yet.
what may be the problem yet?
thank you for the answers
