Hey! I have the, apparently common problem with the boot switch. I've tried to just buy a new one but haven't been able to find any that match my car's colour (grey/black, something like that), so I decided to try to fix it and if it still doesn't work just leave it there and forget about it.

The other problem I had is that the rubber or foam seal that this trim has is not doing its job anymore, so water is going into the boot lid and pretty soon it will start rusting it up from the inside, so I thought on sealing it in place.

Now, questions...

Do you have any tips on trying to fix the switch? How to disassemble it without breaking it, etc? (I have checked the fuses and wiring and it's ok, by the way).

And, what kind of sealant should I use there between the plastic and metal?

Thank you very much!

hi mate,
i stipped mine down about two years back and used loads of electrical contact cleaner on the actual switch operating it while it dryed.
Then i used a very thin layer of petoleum jelly (vasolene will do).
Dont use too much as it is tacky and will stick the switch, you just want a film to water proof it.
Mine has seen two awful winters and is still working 100%.
i did put up a post a while back i will try to find it.
