Technical Rear brake change problems

I hope not as the caliper isn't even a year old.
I'm gonna change both cables tmrw, so will rewind pistons and try again.........
Should you wind them all the way in to allow the handbrake mechanism to reset? I didn't today, just wound enough to refit caliper

Remember to clean and lube the glidepins with silicone grease or brake grease. Make sure its high temperature resistant and if it is a little thicker its easier to put on. This will make sure you won't have seized glidepins and get excessive wear on just one side of the brake pads.

Were the pads worn to metal on both breakpads or just one side? This would show if either the caliper piston or the glidepins are seized or not moving easily enough. If they were worn on just one side and the underlaying fault not fixed they will wear down very fast on one side and you would have to do it all again.

Had a seized piston on my rear brakes and had to rebuild the caliper with a new rubber ring and dust cover after i cleaned the ring slot very carefully. The aluminium had corroded and pushed the rubber ring against the piston so it wouldn't move at all. The hand brake lever was stuck aswell. Had to use plyers to move it until it moved freely.

No pad wear was even on both sides in and out, only issue has been the handbrake on os, I only changed the discs & pads in the hope it would sort the handbrake issue. I will double check the lever today though, cheers.

Hope it goes well. Did the pistons move easily when you retracted them into the caliper? Also did the slider pins move easy when you pushed or moved them?

I couldn't get the piston inside the caliper however hard i tried turning it. I even had a brake caliper tool that i got for the job. It was impossible.

All done and problem solved..... Esaus, pistons and pins were both fine.

One thing I did notice was that the handbrake mechanism lever on back of caliper popped backwards as I gently pulled it, I think it may have got stuck part way so wasn't resetting properly.

2 new handbrake cables fitted and the yolk is now parallel, ill never know whether one of them was the problem or if it was the lever but it's fixed so I don't care.
Thanks to all for your input.
