Hey All,

Looking for a decat for my Stilo Abarth 2.4. Anybody point in me in the right direction as ebay and google dont seem to be in a very good mood about it :)

Thanks!

Why? Anyway, the 2.4 has two cats, one immediately adjacent to exhaust manifold and one a little further along the exhaust pipe. The second (rearmost) cat has no sensor/ECU feedback, so can be removed without difficulty. Several on this forum have done so (including me). I had mine removed as part of fitting a stainless system (by Longlife http://www.longlife.co.uk/ ).

But if I were you, I would think long and hard about removing the first cat.

My centre one is already away. The front one is on its way out horrible smell and can't find one anywhere was thinking of fitting a 200cell sports cat and getting a stainless steel system done.

Remove it for the banter, if the Abarths exhaust allows the first cat to be cut out and a section of pipe welded in place then do that first. If you then find that it's a lot louder and not to your liking then that relatively cheap piece of pipe can be removed in place of a sports cat.

I've decated my 1.2 16v Stilo, there is only one cat in the exhaust system and it is incorporated into the exhaust manifold, so no cutting out and welding in. Instead I bought a custom made 4-2-1 branch manifold tuned to suit the Mk2 punto 1.2 16v, exact same engine as the one used in the Stilo so it would have the same characteristics. Well it made power delivery a lot smoother and removed all evidence of flat spots, and if you kept the gas pedal planted then you get a kick and change of exhaust note as you cross 2-2.5k rpm, but the noise level hasn't changed and my exhaust is straight through bar the standard backbox.

That's my experience on a small capacity engine, it may well be different/ more emphasised in effect with a bigger engine but if you're toying with the idea then you've got to scratch that itch, that's my mentality :p
