Hi everyone , is there anyway i can take my engine out of my 1.4 and stick a 2.4 in it ?

Is there a way to do this ?
has anyone done this ?
Is it cheap ?
What will i need to do ?

Thank you

around 10 members of the greek stilo club have done it but you have to find a donor car. and take everything from the other car and tottally stripping it and putting the parts. having the engine alone is an electrical nightmare and very difficult to integrate with the rest of the components of the car.

From an Abarth donor I'd imagine you'd at least need the body computer, dashboard wiring loom, engine wiring loom & ecu, ABS unit, maybe subframe to swap over wishbones, hub carriers, suspension and driveshafts, door locks, ignition barrell, keys, radiator & piping, engine mount, engine and the gearbox, oh and the fuel pump. Will need the Abarth discs/ pads and the calipers carried over when swapping the hub carriers. A lot of stuff involved in it, not to mention modifying the V5 and seeing what you're insurers say when they see you're reg number hasn't changed but somehow you have an extra litre of displacement... :)

Edit: If I were you I'd get a Bravo Tjet donor car and swap everything over, same as above will be involved but you'd have a unique Tjet Silo!

I totally agree with mark, why bother doing a conversion from a 1.4 to a 2.4 when they already made one at the factory? You can pick one up for peanuts these days? If your going to all that effort then marks idea of a 1.4 tjet would be a far greater idea as fiat never made a tjet turbo so You'ld be driving one of the only ones (y)

You'd still be considered a hero among the ranks for doing it and going through all that work and effort, but at the end of the day what's the point? You would struggle to sell it afterwards as well, but I doubt you'd want to get rid of the only Tjet Stilo in the UK for at least a few years, plus people may well want to buy it in that guise as well!

Also consider the potential exposure you could give your motor to the likes of tuning magazines - if done I reckon it could spark a mass Stilo Tjet craze :D and if done successfully think about the higher availability of off-the-shelft tuning parts for the Tjet ;)
