Well, finaly found out the reason of difficul cold starting....
Faulty injectors...
The fix should cost about 600€....
I'll try to find used ones, and if they work, the Stilo is up for sale... I can't take it anymore....

In EPER for my 2003 1.9 JTD it lists the original injectors then two more numbers for later years. does anyone know what the difference is and are they interchangeable?

Also how do you get the old injectors out, is a special tool / procedure required?

Thanks in advance.

Have a look at www.mister-auto.co.uk for the injector.

Taking used injectors out can be a pain.
Do as follows: use a lot of carburetor(!) spray around the injectors to free the carbon and gunk, let it soak for some time (days).
Loosen the clamp and try to pull the injector out, still using a lot of carburetor spray.
If the injector stays stuck, leave the nut on the clamp loose, but don't take it of completely, start the engine for a few seconds, compression will push the injector free in most times.

Thank you for the advice. I've checked the site above and they list two different Bosch injectors against my engine code and year but the price varies a lot so I think I need the info from Fiat regarding the modification notice C5603/ D5603 ... Can anyone help please?

If you have your injector out, you may be able to see the Bosch reference number on it. That would point you to the right one.

I can't check ePer at the moment (it's jammed, for a change) but you can also use the Fiat part number, if that's stamped on the injector, to cross reference injectors for sale from other manufacturers (?).

The Fiat part is 8 digits and will be 5518... or 5519...<something> although the latest Fiat number is likely to start 717.. or 735... Fiat occasionally reorganize the part numbers in use but if you have the old one, you can get the new one.

Modification codes C5603 and D5603 refer to new injectors that were fitted from 15th November 2001 at engine number 2805542. If your car was built up to that date and has up to that engine number you will have the injectors shown with C5603. If built after that date and has after that engine number you will have the injectors shown with D5603.

If you hover over the modification number (C5603 or D5603) in ePER, it will show the modification.

Both are the same reman. injectors, and are OK for your car.
The less expensive injector is based on exchange of your old injector(s), the pricier one isn't.
Those are remanufactured injectors by Bosch, as real new ones are VERY expensive...

Thank you all it says hovering over the modification number is that it was substituted in later vehicles but does not say what the change was or if I should fit the later number. It says ... DAT 10-2001 MOT 2805542 if this measns anything to you?

Whilst I can see on the site you gave me the dearer one carries a surcharge for a reconditioned unit the Eper modification notice suggests there is a different specification that I would like to understand before I can decide the best option.

Thought I explained it all above.

The change was a different injector. If your engine number is up to 2805542, then you have the injector part number shown next to C5603 i.e. 73500295. If your engine number is after 2805542, then you have the injector part number shown next to D5603 i.e. 73501139.

DAT 10-2001 means Date November 2001
MOT 2805542 means Engine number 2805542

If you're still not clear on it, PM me your VIN, then I can find out what date your car was built, and what engine number you have. From that, I can tell you which part number injector you need, and if there are any part number changes for it.

According to your VIN. you have a 5 door Stilo with the 1.9 JTD 115 hp engine. I was built on 18th November 2003 with engine number 3837503 so is fitted with the later injector, Fiat part number 73501139. That part number has now changed to 55187290.
