Technical Retrofit Cruise control in my stilo WITH cruise control light

Im thinkin about it, went to hook up the light today only the alfa stalk doesnt seem to be able to switch an automotive relay ffs.... Wud need to get a low current relay to get it workin... Wat puts me off buyin the software is a lot of the programmable stuff still involves buying the code number from fiat.... Decisions decisions....

Iirc the dealer will charge £15 for the code, that's not based on experience as I need to get one myself but I've read that on the forum.

Use the software pal, works a treat. Only £43 and you won't regret it.

Well i took the plunge and bought the software. Ran the cruise control re-learn, and it executed and completed as expected. Still no sign of any cruise control light or message. If i try to run it again it then says failed incorrect parameters. Using the actuator section to turn the cruise light on doesnt work either.

Then tried connecting to body computer, got unreliable connection error.

Tried to connect to service module, got ELM 327 -> ECU failed.

£43 down the pi$$er....any ideas what im doing wrong? Ive an ELM327 v1.5a and have a vagcom cable as well. Does the ELM need modded in any way or whats wrong? baud rate is set at 38400, tried others but no difference. :bang:

If you go to settings below the register icon on the left side of the application have you got the ELM selected.

It sounds as though the computer isn't communicating as you should certainly be able to turn the cruise control light on and off with the activate button.

The light bulb will be there as its all standard with the Visteon unit.

Let me know if you still have a problem and I can take some screen shots of my settings for you.

it connects to the engine module fine, reads errors, turns on other warning lights etc as i ask... i read somewhere before about needing to run a proxy alignment with the body computer, but i get an unreliable connection message for it. and yes ELM is selected, as i say it connected before and executed the cruise relearn feature and completed it... yet the light still doesnt work. and when i try to re-run the cruise relearn it now says failed due to invalid parameters

Ok just to update, i discovered the problem was with my ELM interface, i had to mod my cable as per the multiscan forum. I only removed the resistor as i didnt have capacitors handy at the minute etc.

I then had to run the proxy alignment to enable the cc and now i get the light and the message on the dash ... also reset the annoying service due while i was at it... all worked just lovely! happy again woo!

Great I'm glad it worked pal, it's good isn't it, works like it would do out of the showroom.

I have fitted a fiat cruise control stalk and pluged in it (socket was already present in my sept 2003 built 1.9 115 jtd multwagon dynamic). Cruise control works but without the light. I have done the re-learn cruise control via multiscan and it came up as completed, but still the light doesnt work. I am using a ELM327 ver 1.3a, do I need to do something else? Thx David
