Hi All

The instructions below describe how to access a few in-built diagnostic tests the Visteon Stereo's have in-built:

1. Turn the Stereo ON
2. Press buttons "3" and "6" together for a few seconds, until a pitch note is heard on the speakers.

Now you're in test mode, here are the tests you can do:

A. SPEAKER TEST - Pressing the ">>" button will test all the (8) speakers the car has - 4 speakers, 4 tweeters. Once finsihed, it will exit the test mode, and you'll have to go back in (above).

B. SIGNAL STRENGTH - Whilst in test mode (with the pitch note heard), press button "3" again. An indication of the intensity of the radio signal the tuner is receiving is displayed as a measure of voltage (e.g. SIGNAL STRENGTH 1.6V). My averages are 2V-3V.

C. SHORT & OPEN CIRCUITS - Whilst in test mode (with the pitch note heard), press button "6" again. Check that the words "SHORT CIRCUIT - OK" appears (i.e. no problems).

D. PROCESSOR & MODULES COMMS TEST - Whilst in test mode (with the pitch note heard), press button "1". "COMMS TEST - PASS" should appear.

E. CHECKSUM (internal EEPROM) TEST - Whilst in test mode (with the pitch note heard), press button "4". "CHECKSUM - PASS" should appear.

F. DISPLAY OPERATION TEST - Whilst in test mode (with the pitch note heard), press button "5". All the pixels on the display should appear.

G. CD CHANGER COMMUNICATION TEST - Whilst in test mode (with the pitch note heard), press button "2". If a Blaupunkt IDC-A09 is fitted, "CDC CONNECTED" should appear. If not, there is a problem with communication between the units, or no unit is fitted (duh!)

To exit the diagnostic test, turn the stereo off normally.

Hope this helps in some way.

don't know yet if it works but well done on getting this kind of info!!
I really like getting into uncharted areas of my Stilo! "Where-no-dealer-has-gone-before"(or for what matters, has a clue) :D

Yeah, that's cool info.
Where did you get it from? Is there any more from where this came from? :D

have pressed buttons 3 and 6 (Radio station selection)

I get a single tone and then it goes back to the radio station.

I Have SatNav+.

Does this make any differnce.

Hi all,
I did the very same thing with mine and it bleeped, I found out that I’d actually tune my radio in to radio 2, which I already had in another slot. Therefore, I have concluded that we have a far superior radio in the Abarth (hee hee), it would have been nice to play though. Knowing my luck, I would have probably failed the test.

Rroope - Where did you get your info? There's quite a few of us ConnectNav/+ owners about who would like to play with something like this too.....

Hi All

Glad this info has helped a few people. I've got my hands on the Stilo DTE CD (it's the Fiat workshop manual as used by Fiat Technicians), and it's in the test section.

As per Sat Nav, it says it's only for the Cassette/CD/MP3 players. I'll have a browse around for any info on that.

There's not really much more you can do without an examiner - it has a few tests for control panels (such as the Lighting Control Panel - with the MODE button e.t.c) using a ohmeter, but nothing as decent as the stereo one.

Secret Codes Of The Aircon

I found the following on an other forum, tried it, and it works. Now I'm searching for an explanation of the different codes. Does anyone know a bit more, please ???

-----

Turn on the engine then:
1) Push the button that warms up the rear window for 5 seconds
All the elements on the display show then disapear.
2) Push the same button again to go up the menu and the OFF button to go down the menu. The menu is from 00 to 99 (driver side temp.). The value is shown in passenger side temp. digits).
3) Do exit the menu press the rear window worm (defrost/demist) button for 5 seconds then release. (Same as to enter the menu).

I don't know what all the codes mean but
40 is for the speed
Ex: between 0 and 10 km/h it shows 00; between 10 and 20 km/h it shows 10; between 20 and 30 km/h it shows 20 and so on.
37 is for the engine revolutions x100
Ex: at relanti it shows 08 menaing 800 rpm; at 2700 rpm it will show 27 and so on.
24 is for the speed of the clima fan

If you discover what the rest of the codes mean, please post on the forum!

----

Thanks,

Yogi

Re: Stilo Stereo Built-In Diagnosis

The ConnectNav+ "secrets" i came to know about, is as follows:

1. The "secret" menu:
-Go to "SETUP"
-Press "Connect" button 4 times
-Press "Enter"
-The "secret" menu will now appear as a 4'th option called "Aid" (where yo can see a lot of technical information about the software and test your speakers)
(The keypress sequence should be done fastly, without "pausing" between the different actions).

2. Turning off the screen (while radio/CD still plays on):
-Push and hold "Main" button for about 5 seconds. Repeat for turning on again.

3. Restarting the connect Nav:
-Press the "Setup" button 4 times in a row.

Enjoy people :)

Re: Secret Codes Of The Aircon

Took me a minute to figure that worm = warm  (y) but couldn't get it to work on mine :(

Maybe I'll try again later :)

Re: Secret Codes Of The Aircon

Works on mine (is yours with NAV or NAV+? - mine's not); maybe it's worth mentioning that you should press the button for 5 seconds and AFTER THAT RELEASE IT; only after releasing the screen will flash twice and then enter in that special mode; also, buttons on the Air Con unit will keep their normal functions, so if you press OFF the Air Con switches off, if you press "defrost", you will hear the "click" that the defrost relay makes when engaging/disengaging (is that "healthy" for the car's electrics?) and so on...

Hi everybody!

I found the following info about the climate control secret menu here:

http://www.stilo-club.com/viewtopic.php?t=1174&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=16

but... unfortunately the French language is outside of my knowledge. Will be brilliant if somebody can translate the info from the second page (Stan69). They took that from the Spanish Stilo forum. Think will be useful for everyone.

Thanks in advance! :)

Hi Just used babel fish hope this helps

"Hello all the world. I found a site Spanish or they speak about the codes of the climate controls and here what that gives:

Only small problem it is that Spanish one not the air to have the same software as us. The codes do not correspond to our, I am explained: Us there is speed into 40, them in 17 Us one has the account turns into 37, them into 27 Those which want to it to be stuck for all to give in the order, GOOD COURAGE... Thanks! (y)
I believe “babel fish” is some kind of automatic translator (or not?). According to the result it works ok.
The final part is interesting. They have different positions of the code values!

Factory Fitted Alarm Settings...
Operating Modes are as follows:
MODE 1: Default Mode (EEC)
MODE 2: GB
MODE 3: Belgium
MODE 4: Holland
MODE 5: World
MODE 6: Temporary Market
MODE 7: "Range"
There are slight differences, and I'll try and post them up soon!

anyone know what these 'slight differences' are... there was no post after this:(

They are different settings to comply with different country's legislation, such as:

The number of alarm cycles allowed for forced entry attempts.
The number of alarm cycles allowed for volumetric or tilt attempts.
The number of alarm cycles allowed for cable cut attempts.
Total number of alarm cycles allowed.
Pause length between alarm cycles.
Siren alarm time.
Siren alarm volume.
Siren modulation frequency.
Siren sound frequency.

...and there you are again dav! ;)
what's the "temporary market" and "range"?
what about stuff like indicator flashes... or is that still only changeable by getting the key code through FES?
