thats right mate(y) no worries & thanks for the offer!

Thank God, perhaps I can make some progress with my long term ongoing faults here. This is the reason I have found this forum.

I have the exact same problem. As my 1.8 dynamic just entered its 3rd year the creaks and cranks started, first on full steering lock and now over any bump or sharp turn. It is very hard to locate, except to say that its coming from underneath the car.

I have'nt pushed too hard on the dealer as yet, but I am going to have to kick some butt down there soon though to ensure this is sorted. They have checked underneath, but say it all looks ok. Does anyone think it could be anything other than a lubrication problem?:bang:

I know this is an old thread but it's better than starting a new one :)

I've got some silicone spay from hellfrauds today sprayed all i can see but the creaking is still there.

How many bushes are there on the front and on the back? just incase i missed some ;)

If only everyone took that approach - bringing up old threads gives more background information, and avoids filling each section with the same old c**p.

As for the suspension, I'm going to have a look at mine in the week; think Phil (PNL) has some good tips about front suspension squeaks.

Look for the thread called "Creaking steering" one week ago in stilo tech (y)

Bump

The creaking Is really starting to annoy me now

from what I can remember on the back theres is the suspension cups at the bottom and the bit that connects the suspension to the body of the car.

Front there are 2 i think.

someone help how many are there?

Dan the rear springs are mounted in two cups one upper [fixed to body] and the lower one fixed to axle you need to get some lube well into where the springs sit in the cups and I would not use WD40 as I first suggested as it dissipates with the weather use a motor bike chain oil/grease the ones in a spray can makes a bit of a mess but get yourself suitably attired and get at it the fronts are similar Jack up let the suspension hang and get the oil/grease into the bottom spring cup and around the top of the upper rubber mount make sure you get no oil/grease on your brakes by the way (y)

I've mentioned this before but Waxyoil can work wonders for stopping squeaks.

You either just paint it on or use a special spray applicator. If you do then make sure you cover the disc/calipers with plastic bag before you start.

This sounds very similar to my problem as stated earlier in the post. My warranty is due to end in a month. Since my lost post, I have turned my dealers customer care guy into a nervous wreck by telling him there is a horrible creak coming from under the car from both front and back.

Fair play he came for an half hour spin and my bloody car decided to screw around and not make the noise it has made every day before and since. Anyway he said that he would have it in and check out the suspension, etc and lube the bushes as suggested. This has not fixed the problem.

PNL, are the springs different to the bushes mentioned earlier in the thread? It could be that the dealer did not go to the effort of greasing the springs. Also are these springs on the front as well as rear?

My Stilo, whilst having a metallic clang when going over wide speed bumps since it was about 6 months old, has over the last few months developed a sound like a creaky floorboard, coming from the rear passenger side, which only happens as I move off from stationary, and is getting louder. I was worried at first that the brakes may be catching, as I only got one creak, but now I get a series of them, and it is definately the suspension. The dealer who last looked at the car oiled everything they could see, but no joy, and the car is now out of warranty. I recently tried half a can of WD40 on it just to see if I could reduce it short-term, but still no difference. It sounds like it is coming from something connected to the body of the car, possibly under the plastic sleeve that covers part of the suspension that I can't remove to get under, but I'm still stuck.
Can anyone suggest anything else I could do?

Thanks,
Dave

you really need to get the wheels off to make it easier, grease the cups where the suspension joins to the car top and bottom and front and back of the car. It cured mine :D

What kind of grease would you suggest, and is it easily available?

Thanks,
Dave

Hi, I had this problem with the suspension and sorted it with WD40 and LITHIUM GREASE by spraying all the visible bushes.

I have been noticing a creak, like a loose floor board, from the rear passenger side recently when going over bumps or taking corners a little sharp. I think KOA has hit the nail on the head.
A couple of years ago the front passenger side devoloped a creak, Fiat could not figure it they had the wing off and all sorts.

I tracked the noise to the passenger 'A' pillar(inside, next to the tax disc holder), so I removed the trim and sprayed lots if WD40 in all the holes and sorted, its been fine ever since.

Im guessing that the rear passenger side has the same problem, so this weekend I will be removing trim from the rear passenger pillar(prob do drivers rear) and spray some lubricant and see what happens.

I will report back this weekend.

(sorry about the lenght of the thread)

I just got my stilo on monday, and on tuesday i noticed a creaking noise coming from what seems to be my left shoulder. Im not sure if its the suspension as previously mentioned in this thread, or the seats. Its probably not the seats but thats what it seems like it could sound like. I had the seats folded down prior to hearing this noise, messing about and finding stuff out about the car, you know how it is ;) anyway ive put the seats back propperly (black spot showing on the seat and not a red dot) and ive shook the seats and get a similar if not the same noise. This creaking/ low pitched rattle doesnt necessarily happen over bumps. The first time i heard it i was pulling away on a flat road and just general driving in a straight line can make it occur. Im not worried about the sound because 9 times out of 10 i have the stereo on but im just wondering if its a serious problem with the suspension. If so ill be calling the Fiat dealer (1 year warranty) Im probably just being paranoid but would like to know what it is

Tomorrow will be the first time ill have driven it on the motorway and with 4 occupants so will see if it happens then.
