Having spoken to Fiat UK[:(!] about this and despite my dealer's best attempts:) I am still stuck with the 8.5 poor distance estimation and screech. Does anyone know of any dealers in the North or West Midlands who have a copy of 9.7 so that I can upgrade my car?

Thanks

Hey, count yourself lucky. I'm still on version 7.4!!

When I took my car in for some warranty work the garage mentioned it needed updating and were suppose to do it as part of the "job". Kinda looks like they forgot to do it, along with the job they were suppose to fix 'cos I've still got the banging from the suspension. Grrr [:(!]

One question though, does anyone know whether it's just a firmware update and different to that of the language set-up CD that comes with the car? If it isn't, then I guess that if you decide to change languages, or do a reinstall if it goes loopy, you'll revert back to the old version.

is it possible to downgrade from 11 to 9.8?

The radio on 11 sometimes doesn't start...

The setup file unzips to a .nrg file which will burn straight to disc with Nero.

The CN98 file is an .ISO file which burns straight to disc with Nero.

Both may work with other CD burning software. It's advisable to burn them at a slow speed.

Once you have the 2 CDs, do the update exactly as described in the instructions, which I assume you've already found?

There is no 'best' version of firmware for the CN+. Some people say one is better, some people say another one is better.

As you need to bypass the Master Code for your CN+, the only version that does that is 9.8.

Even if your CN+ already has 9.8, you will need to install it again once the CN+ is fully connected to your car.

You will need 9.8 on a CD and the Setup files on another CD. Both can be downloaded from the links I posted at #5 above. After you have installed 9.8, the language for the on screen displays and voice control will be in Italian. You need the Setup CD if you want to change the language but Bulgarian is not available.

These are the instructions for doing the update:
  1. Remove SIM Card (if installed).
  2. Turn on the CN+ unit and clear any error messages using the “ESCAPE” button.
  3. Insert the update disk and wait for the unit to display “CD Error” on the screen. Press the “ESCAPE” button to clear this message.
  4. Turn off the CN+ unit by pressing the “ON” button.
  5. Remove the ignition key, then wait 30 seconds.
  6. With the ignition key still removed, switch on CN+ by pressing the “ON” button.
  7. Now this is where you start to panic! The update procedure will begin. Ensure that the CN+ is not switched off during this procedure! The update may freeze for a few moments at 50%, this is normal.
  8. When completed, the FIAT logo will appear on the screen and the CD will automatically be ejected. Remove the CD.
  9. Switch the CN+ unit off using the “ON” button.
  10. Switch the ignition on, insert the Setup CD when it first turns on, and allow the unit to boot up automatically.
  11. Go into Setup -> Language to change the language.

Hi,
Davren, I'm so thankful to you. Now i'll do it , but have some qiestions.
I downloaded 2 files but they are in winrar format.Must I have to do something with them, or directly copy them to 2 disk using nero?
And about "2 step" of instruction : how to turn on my Navi usig ON/off button or by ignition key and starting engine? sorry, but I'm not sure and i'm afraid of some fatal problems. :)

Thank you once adain

You will need to unzip the files with WinRar. If you don't have WinRar, there's trail versions you can download from here:

If you turn the ignition on, the CN+ will ask for the Master Code. Just turn it on with the "ON" button. Make sure your battery is fully charged before you start the update.

:) Hi, I'm so happy!
Thank you lot Davren.Today copied the 2 files and after succesful operation with your instructions, the result is the best.
NO master code already :) I'm very glad, because everythink works good
