General STILO 1.6 and 1.8 (vs others)

thanks a lot! i guess with whatever i chose i shouldn't go too wrong ;) interesting post by apierdomi... i did consider the fact that the 1.8 is only dynamic (lot's of good stuff on it) so that's a plus but i didn't know about the steering, brakes etc...!

well i guess i'll have to find a car now!

PS anything in particular i should look at when buying a used stilo?

Try and buy from a dealer offering a warranty ... at least one year, make sure the service history is bang up to date so as not to invalade any remaining Manufacturers warranty as well.

and remember yellow ones go faster (y)

I would check the following more than anything else:
- clutch pedal, it must not click when pressed, if it clicks they have to replace the clutch pump free of charge before you get the car, it is a small defect which doesnt affect clutch function or performances but it is silly not to get it done!

Nothing else.
Just enjoy the car, any Stilo is fantastic...except the 5 dr....just kidding....the 5dr is only a bit ugly! (y)

I have the 1.6 (5dr...Having a wife and 2 kids and all) and I have no complaints...It can move when you need it to which does me fine :p
A wife and 2 kids...thats no excuse, i have a wife and 5 kids (three under 6) and a 3 door works perfectly fine for me :D

Plus it's easier to open the door to get to the child seat than messin with seats in the front :p ...also i've seen very few 5dr's on the road around here especially ones my colour so that makes up for it (y)

Scilla Red and 3dr - even more rare!!!

I can safely say I have probably the only Scilla Red 3dr in NI with Brio book alloys to make it look slightly different (y)

I think ive saw 1 Scilla Red 3dr bar mine in the 7 months ive owned my Stilo! Great!!! Ive saw my old Bravo on the road more !! ;)

I agree... a 3 door is great!!
Because there is no door or opening window in the back you are 100% gaurenteed that one of the kids aren't going to figure out how to open the door and jump out while you're doing 60 Mph on the freeway.
:spin:

 child locks??

The 1.8 16v is a great engine. I evened a 3 Dr Multijet with my 5 Dr 1.8, beat a Honda Accord i-CTDi with 140 bhp at the top end (on a high-speed test track I like to refer to as the freeway :D ), beat a 130 bhp (more like 140) Golf IV 1.9 TDI and generally had lots of fun with the car. It also sounds terrific, has pretty good steering and impressive brakes. Maintenance isn´t expensive (at least it wasn´t on mine, which I drove to the max all the time) and the car is so understated that you´ll really surprise a lot of other drivers. One more tip - the car does about 3 mph more at the top end with 98 octane in place of the 95.
