Hello, this is my first post..

I recently bought an 04 88 K miles MW JTD with sky roof etc from ebay..

When I test drove the car it appeared to be fine nice an tight, engine sounded good and the clutch and gears all nice..so I paid for it and drove off..

The first bump in the road I hit the car appeared to be stearing from the back a bit scary anyway, I drove it home very steady..then started to do some research which lead me to this great forum..it became obvious that there was a rear axle bush gone..armed with what I had read here, bought two and had them fitted for £150..this really improved the handling though, at 50 it sounds like a WW11 Spitfire..

Noticing the tyres were a bit warn I wondered if it was tyre noise..got hold of some good part worn tyres on ebay and changed them however, this did not cure the problem..One morning a rear tyre was as flat as a pancake..took it to be repaired but, next day it was flat again..turned out the actual wheel had a crack in it..have got a used wheel again on ebay..

What I'm thinking now is that, the previous owner had run the car with a shot axle bush for a long time and this has done for the wheel and wheel bearing..when I stripped the n/s rear brake calliper it appears to seized as well..handbrake not working..

With the wheel off , disk and brake removed I can feel a kind of rough spot in the bearing but, I'll change the bearing and the calliper next then, cambelt/water pump just to be sure as the seller had no knowledge about it..

Apart from the problems, the car is so good on fuel can hardly beleive it..I like driving it though, miss having a left foot rest..

Rustymotor..

Hi There

I had the Exact same problem, because the bushes had gone the rear of the car always wanted to steer to the left, i got the bushes changed and the o/s/r bearing had worn because of this.

i know the sound you mean, does your head right in!, i got mine supplied and fitted for £100.

felt like a new car when the bushes had been done!

Cheers

Paul
