hi to all,new member first post so apologies in advance.bought stilo 1.9 jtd mw 2004 today,107k.drove home 200 miles, believe vehicle may have stood for a while.all seemed good initially although at 80 on motorway it felt like intermittent holding back but thought it must be me imagining things, slowed for roundabout then went to accellerate but power very limited for several seconds then came back with a big cloud of black smoke and took off like the scalded cat.over the journey this happened several times, always after slowing down, caused interesting moment with french lorry on a14.any ideas? no warning lights etc, sometimes took a couple of miles to come back, with juddering.thinking must be fuel starvation? fuel filter first call unless anyone knows different.many thanks:confused:

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Did you fill up with fresh fuel?

First try unplugging the MAF sensor and taking it for a drive. If it feels better you probabely have a faulty or dirty MAF sensor. If there's no difference plug the MAF back in.

Second clean and check the operation of the EGR and MAP sensor, then take it for a drive again. The EGR and MAP can both cause a loss of boost resulting in a loss of power.

A quick search of the forum will supply you with more info about where they are and how to clean and check them.

Post back once you've tried, let us know what happens ..

Same model year and mileage as mine. When I got mine 2 years ago it was a bit rough... clean the map sensor and the maf, use Shell or other major branded fuel, and use some Millers in the fuel, it will really clean it out and loosen it up. MOT for mine on Saturday...
