Hi everyone, i've jst joined the forum and jst recently purchased a really nice 2002 1.9 jtd dynamic stilo! I absolutely love the car! probably my fav upto now! The issue i'm having is after i lock it, about 20-30mins later the car unlocks itself and opens the windows! it does this exactly as it would if i was using the full closure unlock feature. Obviously this is quite distressing as my car is unsecure. If anyone can help it'd be greatly appreciated. To help narrow the problem down a bit I am definitely 100% not causing the issue by leaning on the keys as they are either in my locker at work or on the side in my house when it happens. Also, the battery was recently changed, so not sure if this could have messed up some of the cars software routines. Look forward to hearing from you guys, Mike :)

the first thing i would do is remove the battery -ve terminal for 30mins min or so (overnight is best), there may be a bug in the ecu, removal of the battery for a while usually resets these gremlins.
my car had a issue out of the blue where the remote wouldnt work and that solved it.
i would also remove the battery from the remote to 100% rule that out.

There is a switch in the lock barrel on the driver's door. When I tried holding my key there in the unlock position, my windows went down. Therefore my guess is that water has got into this switch on yours. I'm not sure about the 20-30min part, but perhaps the water makes only a partial circuit that takes a while to trigger the body computer. Perhaps you can unplug this switch as a trial, anyway.

Thanks guys i'll give both those a bash today and see how i get on fingers crossed! I rang my local fiat garage and they offered the ecu plug in but after chatting with them for a bit i mentioned how i was going to get a toad alarm fitted anyway and they said that could bypass the problem completely so there's hope yet!

I was looking at the A101cl but nothings set in stone yet. Jst unhooked my battery a minute so hopefully it'll sort it out! :)

im thinking along the same lines as AlexGS, could be the lock barrel thats the problem, but also definately worth unplugging the battery for an hour or two...

EUREKA:D All sorted! un-coupled the -side on the battery for 40mins reattached it set everything back up all works fine and it's not done it again! Been over 2 hours now and no problems! Thanks a million guys hope i can return the favour on here someday (y)

I had a similar problem 3 years ago. Problem solved when the wife said she had washed my trousers with the car keys in on of the pockets. Took about 10 days to fully dry out. On another note, dropped my mobile phone into the swimming pool the other day, thats gone in the bin!
