....1.9multijet16v 150cv only for Opel/Saab

Opel/Saab/Vauxvall/Daewoo will mount multijet diesel engine designed by Fiat...

They must be joking!!!!
I know that FIAT multijet engines are good but Saab will mount a FIAT?
A bit unbelievable [xx(].
I have a feeling that [}:)]General Motors[}:)] is behind this. [)]

As a SAAB and FIAT owner I am not surprised by this.

SAAB have been continually downgraded by GM[:(!], My current SAAB has their own 2.0L turbo (derived from a Triumph design but much altered). Its replacement has a Opel/Vauxhall engine.

However if this relationship continues can we expect to see a Stilo with a 200+ BHP SAAB Turbo engine and the 4 Wheel drive system rumoured for a SAAB 9-3X next year -- Move over Subaru

That would nice:D:D

Tell me someone with a know how better then fiat on small diesel engine... (1,3 - 1.9 - 2,4)

The only problem with diesel made by fiat were some of the first 1,9TD of Tempra/Tipo that sometimes burnt the head gasket... but after this, I never heard a problems from a fiat diesel engine!!!...

Isn't the new Saab 9-2 a rebadged and restyled Impreza anyway, so there are links all over the shop!

I hope that a 1.9 MJTD finds its way into the new Panda - I expect to downsize in a year or two.

Punto Mk2 ELX

Yup

The Saab 9-2 is I believe a rebadged and restyled Imprezza but only going to be available in the USA.

I guess that if the engine is good and FIAT do make good engines does it matter that much. People do have funny ideas I had an argument with a friend who said the Porsche Boxster was better made than a SAAB convertable because it was made in Germany, It probably is better made but they were both being made in the same factory to different specs.

Whilst I was working in South Africa the locals were complaining they couldn't get hold of locally made BMWs and Mercs because they were all being shipped to the UK to be sold for twice the price.

I had a Mk1 Punto TD and did have a minor problem in that the way the injectors were connected resulted in a fuel leak all over a front tyre on a French Motorway. Solving the problem cost about £1.50 but replacing a tyre on a french motorway cost a fortune.
