Hi there - sorry if this has been asked numerous times. But here goes. I have been told that 19" alloys will fit on a Stilo Abarth as long as you stay with only 7" wide rims. The tyres would need to be 235/35/19's to make the package work. Can you tell me if anyone knows if this has been done? If so does anyone have any pictures?

Secondly - I have read somewhere a long time ago that it may be possible to play DVD's through the nav + system in my Abarth. Can anyone confirm if this is the case and what is needed to do this?

First questions of many as a now 2 day old Abarth owner.

Hi and welcome to the forum :D

Not sure about 19s, although a few guys on here who should know [KoAraAng ;)].

As for the DVD, not that I am aware of? It can be done on the Ulysse Nav+ system, due to fact AV ports are in the glovebox. Maybe there is some confusion, or there is a way I don't know about.

Stu

PS Not far from me ;)

Is the screen on the Ulysse the same one as on the Stilo??? I so, is the image any good cau's there's got to be a aux port somewhere on the sat nav even though the manual says it's not YET available.

Thanks folks for the welcome. Nice to know there's people who know more than me. Guess thats most of the population i hear you shout..... I guess the best way to find out if its got an AV port is to take it out and look... Now wheres my hammer and chisel? As I'm only 2 days into owning this fantastic car, I'm a little bit dubious about wrenching the Screen and Nav + system from the dash. Does anyone have a picture of the back of a unit? maybe taken from one of these parts CD's available.

I was told today from a wheel specialist that in fact you can put 20" wheels on the Stilo but they do rub on full lock. Not ideal.... 19"s are plenty big enough and should fill those arches well. Trying to find a place that will order some so we can confirm that they fit with no rubbing.

Glad to know your close to me where exactly are you then? I live about 7 miles from Daventry in a small village. Sorry i been out all night playing in the car. I just love it.

Just to point out that with 19" alloy you will completely destroy the ride & quite possibly damage the shocks. I would say that 17" is best, 18" for show. If you get yourself some Eibach lowering springs I think you'll find that the wheels will fill the arches nicely. (y) I only have the standard 16's on at the moment but they still don't look too bad as the car's been lowered. ;)

Hello M8 - nice to see another new face :) Haven't been in long myself - luv my Abarth. Good to hear that someone else feels the same - they are fantastic motors for the money. Are u a manual or a selespeed Abarth?

Sorry should tell everyone what we have purchased. Will add these details to my signature in a minute so all can see.

2002 Fiat Stilo Abarth, Broom yellow, selespeed, Sky roof, 5 disc changer, Full closure Alarm, premium sound system and two very happy owners. Soon going to be running on 18" or 19" alloys. Then a visit to Nige at Angel tuning should complete the personalisation. That is until I can find time to get to Ascar exhausts in sheffield to have a twin tail pipe stainless powerflow exhaust fitted.

The cars that good that our Daughter now just turned 3 will not travel in Dad's company car. We go out to the drive and she say's " Can we go in the ello car please"

I have to say - I feel the same... :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship:

PS - thanks for the advice on the Alloys - 18"s will probably be the way forward. What reason do you think 19"s would damage the ride and shocks?

oh yes its there.

Ok anyone know anywhere that you can suggest for good service on alloys?

The circumference is too great it'll probably knock out the speedo as well. Glad you love the car you should try & get to Stanford hall on june the 12th for the next auto-italia meet & come & say hello. BTW I would also go for the supersprint exhaust as it has been designed & tuned to the engine. It is more expensive but you will get a genuine power increase. (y) Also check this thread it tells you how to fit a BMC carbon airbox or you could get Nige to fit one when you have it remapped.

Sorry i only just noticed this thread.

Hi chamonixpip, 19's will fit but if you have 235/35/19's on them your RR will be just over 10mm bigger which will mean, when travelling at 70mph on your speedo, you will actually be doing 72.44mph.
Which isn't too bad as long as you remember the difference. But that size is recomended for 8 inch wheels and above which would then give you fitting problems as idealy you will want a 7.5 inch wheel on the Stilo.

The ideal size for 19 inch and to keep as much of the ride quality as you could hope to on 19's would have to be 225/35/19 which would make your RR 7.5mm larger and at 70mph on your speedo you will be doing just 71.66.

I have been told that this wheel and tyre combination will fit the stilo with no problem at all.

Personally i would rather a slightly bigger RR for the extra ride quality especially on 19's so if possible don't go for anything less than the 225/35's.

Hope this helps.

Hi mark. Is that wheel width the maximum? as I know that the fiat 17" upgrades are only 7" wide. I would have thought with 19's there'd be a lot rubbing on the inside specially if the car's been lowered.

Well i have 17x7's on mine right now but i went to check out some 18's at 7.5 inches and according to the wheels shop they will fit no problem and he said he had fitted 19's at that width on a stilo without any trouble.
If you go to www.performancealloys.com and get wheels just for your car, it comes up with a range of 7 to 8.5 inch wheels even on the 19's.
I think a lot of the width problems would be down to the inset size so it's always gonna depend entirely on the particular wheel your going for.
I think 19's at 7.5 inches need an inset of between 35 and 45 mm for them to fit.
But if anyones going for 19's i would suggest going somewhere where they are willing to do a free trial fitting.

Thank you for the valid advice. Point taken. So all in all 19"s with 225/35/19 tyres on a 7.5" rim would be fine. To have that tyre and wheel combo would require an offset of 35 or 45mm? There is so much to know. I guess a visit to a quality wheel tyre place would be good for a test fit. then the proof is in the testing. I really like the idea of 19"s on the stilo it just seems to want bigger alloys. Of cousre I will be keeping the same appearance to the car by buying a Shadow chrome or Urban chrome wheel combo.

Once again thanks for the advice - nice to know you care.

Ps site is fantastic.

Hey there chamonixpip, don't forget thet if u fit 19's on the stilo the brake discs are going to look a little silly. They allready look a wee bit small on the 17's so if i were you i wouldn't go any bigger than 18's.
Best of luck (y)

Unless of course you are getting wheels that cover the brakes well ;)

No, the setup is totally different, even though from same manufacturer.

It is a lot more colourful for starters:

The image is pretty good - have used it for playing a digital camcorder through it.
