Hi, Today my car's MOT has failed due to exhaust leak and the guy has provided a quote to replace the cat converter of arround £450. Can anyone advise if there is any alternative?
Thanks

I recommend following the advice of yellow peril . Get a second opinion . I had a cat last the full 160k miles on my stilo . There is a place in Wolverhampton which supplies cats, you may try buypartsby (Sutton Auto Factors ) or online automotive too , if you really do have to buy one. About £200.

Good advice here from well known suppliers, quick delivery as well.

Odd that a Cat would leak unless gaskets have failed or casing cracked.

Thanks to all for reply, I would booked an appointment this week for second opinion. Let's see the outcome.

Cheers,

Hi All,

I took my car to another garage and he welded the exhaust and got passed my MOT. Saved around £400.

Thanks to all for your advise.

I have one more minor problem. FM radio is not working I have removed the unit and checked the connection at the back everything seems to be alright. I have replaced the antenna but still it doesn't work. Please advise?

Thanks,
cs
