the new bravo its a t-jet turbo engine. the 1.4 in the stilo is a starjet N/A engine. so internals are of a different spec and compression ratios are different. likely different cams and certainly different engine management
Mine is not the t-jet. Are you saying the basic engine is 'T-jet ready' even if the turbo is not fitted (as in the 90). Many externals are identical eg plugs, coils, waterpump, cambelt etc.
No it won't be "ready" as such, as clock say you'll need all sorts of stuff to be able to run a turbo on it. Firstly all your internals will have to be changed to those suited to the extra power the turbo will produce ( such as stronger con rods, lower compression possibly even the crank? ) the cams as stated will almost defiantly be different, then there's the extra plumbing for the oil to the turbo then there the engine management which will be completely different ............. If the block is loseley the same then it would probably be easier and cheaper just to but a t-jet from a written off one and drop that in? It would certainly be a quick and great conversion to do
Thanks for comments guys . I wasnt intending to do a change (!), I just wanted to try to understand the differences. We have both cars . I have formed the view that the stilo engine performs better, but that could be due to other factors of course.
