you proberbly aleady know this but our annoying liitle problem ,which is fuel neey dle dropping down error message blah blah,is quite simply due to a almost dead or crap battery.ive had mine replaced due to my car not starting while at work after a 12 hr shift very annoying, mind you the rescue guy fitted me a new battery and hey presto no errors, give it a try dudes it only cost me 38 quid and has solved at least 3 problems ,bargain, cmc i do feel for you cause i know your car has been to the dealer loads, but their attempts were a waste of time, also what annoys me is why not awarning of low battery that would of stpped a lot of headaches, excuse any speeling mistakes ive just finished 4 12 hour shifts ,good nite and good luck

Nice one Andy...

A new battery is on my shopping list as have read quite a few reports of the JTD battery curing the false errors on the 1.6 - I tried getting my dealer to swap it (even offered to pay difference between 1,6 and JTD batteries) but they denied there was any link between the battery voltage and the errors/warnings!

The 3rd yr warranty (if you can call it that!) is up on 15/07/2005 so planning to get a last main dealer service in before then as it's also MOT time so want to get any last warranteeable (sp) gremlins fixed before it expires - I'll mention all the fuel sensor fault warnings etc. again to see if I can squeeze a new battery out of them before I put my hand in my pocket...

to be honest purple i dont think you need a jtd battery just a new battery that hasnt been supplied by your dealer, ive been out and about today with very little petrol and still no errors on startup ,i can hardly beleive it ,its like a new car

This is great news Andy thanks for letting us all know. Beleive it or not I got the error message an hour ago as I went out to get fuel ironically enough!

Out of interest mate what kind of battery did you get in yours? Also did the rescue guy say anything about the battery being completely goosed or justy flat? It 's rare for a battery to go in a car so young but it would make senses if they were just a duff batch on the early cars?

Cheers

cmc

to be honest cmc i have no idea what battery was put inby the rescue guy,i will try and find out for you but i am about to start 4 12 hour nite shfts so i wont be able to find out untill after that. the rescue guy told me that my battery was at the endof its life span as when you look at the battery there should be a green spot i think, mine was black which apparently tells you to replace the battery, glad i did because it certainlly worked

quick update dudes,i am still getting the error message but only when i am in the red and on startup, not perfect but nowwhere near as annoying as it was,not like its happening everytime i start the engine, maybe a jtd battery would be the perfect cure but i dont think ill bother ,just thought ild let you geezers know
