Hi All,

Right my new engine wiring loom came today and having just stripped out the old one in about 2 and half hours i have a couple of questions that i would like help with.

1, On the end of the loom that goes to the injecters there are 2 plugs, One of which goes to the coolent sensor the other i havent a clue. It has 3 wires which are coloured
Pink/grey or black, White/Black?, Blue/Red. Any ideas please.

2, the plug for the base of the fuel filter is not on the new loom and i have different colours on this,
grey/white, black, Black/white new loom.
Black/white, Black, Pink Old loom

Wonder if the black/white and the black stays the same and its the pink thats different.

3 Electric dipstick???

Pink/blue, Blue/white old loom
Red, White new loom.

Both looms,

If anybody has the time to have a look for me i would be very grateful indeed.

All the plugs and other stuff look to be the same so hopefully it will be fine????

Too late to look at the car tonight. Best I can find from the wiring diagram is:

  1. Closest 3 pin plug I can find for the 3 colours you list are: Blue/Red, Blue/Black and Orange/Black for the Fuel Pressure Sensor. That would be on the fuel rail close to the injectors.
  2. The Water in Fuel Sensor below the filter is shown as: Grey/Yellow, Black and White/Black.
  3. The Oil Level Sensor is shown as: Blue/Yellow and Blue/Red.

Cheers dave, think this is going to be a tad more difficult than i first thought.

All the plugs seem to match just the 3 in my first post are different colours between the old 52 plate engine loom and the 05 plate loom i have now.

I think the fuel pressure sensor is a new addition as i dont think i have one on my engine unless its somewhere different.

Our 2002 Stilo had a fuel pressure sensor, I'm sure all fuel injected engines have to have one.

Anyway, here's a pic to help you find it below the EGR.

Cheers Shadey, The plug which at the moment doesnt have a home is right on the end of the loom that the 4 injectors are on pictured below.

Old loom at bottom, newer one at top with wire cutters next to plugs in question.

The more i think about it the more i think this isnt going to work!!!!!!!!!!!

Weather is pants here too.

Yes shadey i remember unplugging that one and thinking what a swine it was to unplug.
Still lets go and get wet, will pop in for updates and any bits of wisdom and help you lot may or may not give me.:D:eek:

Wish me luck as going to need it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just took a quick look at our 2005 JTD, its pissing it down here .. :(

Here's what the plugs go to.

The reason the old loom and the new loom are different is because Fiat changed the position of the Fuel Pressure Sensor from the middle of the fuel rail(2002) to the end of the fuel rail(2005). I'm not sure you'll be able to use that 2005 loom, or has it just been re-routed and the connections the other end are the same?

Hmm well its slowly going back together, thanks for that shadey have managed to get it to reach the plug but explains the difference.

Right have hit a snag,
First i have these 2 wires with rings on
.

Now am i right in assuming they are one goes to the starter the other to the alternator. I just dont know which way round they go.
Also the 2 big red wires that go from the starter to alterator and starter to battery do they use the same terminal on the starter as well.

Third, Does anybody know where this little one goes.

Am completely stuck now.:(:(:confused::confused:

Well its in, all plugs bar the little one in the pics which i suspect might be the oil level sensor but we now I hope have a working rad fan.

Fiat ecu will turn on both fan speeds which is something it wouldn't do last time I looked at the car and i now have no engine warning light.

In fact no stored errors at all.

Still have loose connection and the above sensor ping up on the dash but so far its all good.
No air con but I suspect it will need gassing after being in operative for 2 years and I don't know if the air con pump will work either but that's another day.

Thanks to Davren and Shadeyman for both helping me and to everyone else that has helped in the past with this issue, Deckchair was fab to name but one.

So off to Weston super mare in a minute to pick up a dog guard and if im not back in a couple of hours................................!!!!!!

Yes it was a bit mammoth but I enjoyed the challenge and at least I now don't finally have a engine fault. Still have a loose connection and oil level sender issue and i think all my new air con gas has disappeared but at least it still works.
I just wish 18months ago I had spent £1000 on the car rather than spending a huge sum of money on a van that I cant now afford and is going back.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing at times.

sorry to post on this old threath, but did you ever figure out that 1pin connector?
