Guys im having a problem my temp fluctuates past the mid mar to max and then back to mid. it does it whenever it wants or when i have high revs. i changed the water temp sensor but that wasnt it.

i noticed if i lighlty tap the ecu it stops. I cleaned the connectors and wiggles them around to see if there is a cable problem but no fix.

I have a feeling this is an ecu problem. Has anyone had this problem before? A new ecu is pretty expensive here. I heard you cant get a used one cause its locked with the immobilizer. Is there any way this ecu can be fixed? any reputable companies that do this?

are you 100% certain its the ECU or could it be coincidence that when you tap the ECU it doesnt happen.... sounds to me like your thermostat is playing up! and changing the stat is cheaper than ECU

have you correctly bled the system? if a air buble goes across the sensor it throws it sky high, or drops it all over the spot. worth bleeding it again just to be sure,

and other than that, its NO WAY worth the cost of a ecu to fix just a moving needle. Also, try earths, just incase its a bad earth for when the fan tries to turn on.

its not the thermostat i changed it 9 months ago, its not the water temp sensor either did that too.

Why was the stat changed 9 months ago, and where did you get it from? How can you be sure its not the stat

My money is on it aswell tbh, even if recently changed, not uncommon to get a duff one, expecially if not an OEM part!

It's not just a moving needle thing. If the ECU gets wrong info about the engine temp then it changes lots of things, mixture etc.Try to start the car with the needle showing anything else but cold - pain in the a$$.
Stilatos may gets sudden rises now, but it's almost certain that the problem is gonna get worst and the engine temp is going to be all over the place.
I had the exact same problem about a year ago...

the radiator turns on when the temp goes up. i cant really bleed the system where the temp sensor is. i assume it happens further back where the heater radiator bleed is.i have heard of this fault only from 2 other users in my forum they claim it was the engine ecu and changed it.

also if i dont fix the ecu im gonna die in this 41C heat here in greece. when the temp is near max the ecu cuts off the a/c compressor so i might have to cough up the money for a new ecu. an original fiat one is like 900 euros if i get it off a magnetti marelli dealers its about 675 euros
