Had a small accident at work this afternoon with a metal pole and my car which scratch the paint work on the metal and on the rear right side of the bumper. So i'm not happy with myself at all today. :bang: :bang:

Can anyone tell me how much they think something like this would cost??

I have attached this picture:-

I dont think it will cost that much to be repaired.

My old man scrapped his rear wheel arch on his saab on a brick wall before and that was £130 and that was a lot more damage than youve done there.

Stuart,

Yeah read the post but I can see the metal so I think its beond a touch up kit. Also the paint has fully come off the plastic.

It's not about actual damage a body shop will charge to repaint the affected area but charge to lacquer the whole panel as there's nowhere to fade out on a stilo. And if it's a solid colour they will have to repaint the whole panel.

Blackjtd,

Are chipsaway any good?? Has anyone used them? And how much would you think a respray would cost?

Stan..

Bennyboy,

Yep it's the morano or whatever its called colour...so would that mean a full respray or the panel and rear bumper then??

Stan..

I can't remember if the modern solids are basecoats although a girl at work has a sprint blue punto which had the same damage as you & I sprayed that for her in basecoat then lacquer. If yours is a basecoat then you're in luck because you can ask them to fade out on the curveture on the quarter panel & on the bumper round by the lamp cluster.

Bennyboy,

I hope you are correct and I would be happy for it to fade out like that. So as you have done this job then how much would it cost??

Stan..

Ah now there's a queation I don't deal with estimates but you're looking at at least 3 hours labour which can be anything between £25-35 per hour & then there's the materials which they'll claim as sundries. I expect you'll get quoted for 1/4lt of paint & 1/2lt of lacquer so approx £20 for paint & £50-60 for lacquer. Where ever you take it if they try to quote you more than 3 hours just say thanks & go somewhere else. Personally I can do that sort of job(provided there's no dents) in an hour & a half.

Bennyboy,

So in otherwords tops upto £200 quid tops then...Well if thats the price I will have to pay to learn my lesson then thats the price ill have to pay.

It's bloody typical as well as ive only had the car of 5 months now..!

Have asked chipsaway for a quote so see what they have to say...

Stan..

Chipsaway

i have to say my experience was excellent, i put 2x1 inch sctatches on my bumper due to run in with a bollard

they looked at it, estimated £95, took the paint code, did the job while i was at work and it cost £80

its like there was never any bollard running up behind me and getting in my way! outstanding, very slight difference in feel of the finish but it looks perfect

A freind of mine Is a Chipsaway guy ... hes worked on my car and the Mrs's and I have to say the Finish is excellent .. Mind you I got the work done very very Cheap :D

Well Bo,

Just got off the phone from chipsaway and getting this sorted out next week for 70 quid plus vat.

Not a bad price really.

We will see if they do a good job then...

Stan..

Well chipsaway just left and did a cracking job!! Sorted out a few other chips, gave the bonnet a polish and I can't tell that I ever scratched the car now.

All for just over 80 quid!.

Lets hope ive learnt my lesson now!
