hi all i noticed yesterday that my oil filler cap had hard oil caked on the inside just affter the threads,cleened out with carb cleener, something or nothing ? 1.4 5 door 2004, 59k

Suffice to say with a good quality, fully synthetic oil (changed regularly along with the filter) this should not happen. So draw your own conclusions about what you (or a previous owner might have done...
Caked as in thick, or glazed as in some oil has burned during the cars life and coated the oil filler inlet? Pics of before/after would be good.
hi no it was hard inside the cap, scraped out with flat screwdriver and cleaned with carb cleaner.

Erm recommended by whom? Fully synth won't do any harm to this engine.
Leading oil manufactures and Fiat from memory
My 1.2 manual recommends fully synth.

My 1.4 handbook (2006) says to use 5W/40.
Will voluble check mine then :/
I've got 10/40 semi in my car to be honest. It shouldn't harm the engine, just require more frequent change.
