Hi
Ive seen mention of the Electronic / Personal Code in some posts, ie. the flashing indicator posts. Now I was not aware of this and it seems this did not come with my Stilo. I asume i'll have to get onto my Dealer about this as they only sold the car to us two weeks ago.

yes! make sure you get it.Electronic and mechanical code! Also the code for your radio cd player if you have one.

Electronic and personal code is written on a small card that is given to you with the car keys. It is very important to have this code, because (as written in the manual) in case the key performs a fault imobilizer code check, you will need the code to get you car started. In this case the car computer asks you to enter the code using the buttons on the dash board and the LCD/TFT screen.
So it is very important to have this card and more important to carry it with you, especially with all this faults that you read in this forum. :D

The code cards don't come with the UK spec cars. This was at the request of the insurance companies. I think your dealer can get these for you but they'll probably charge a fee.

Really? This is outrageous!!why would they ask somethin like that? And why charge?? This is taking the ****!!
having those codes is a safety thing! You must have them!!

When I got my stilo it came with a card with a code on it. It was a scratch off section with a code under it.

Did anyone else get this ?

Have you double-checked in all the pockets in the owners folder? I found mine tucked behind a PDI report in one of the clear pockets in the folder.

Might be worth looking......

Hi

I ordered my card to be on the safe side (i live in the UK and we don't get it "due to the wishes of the Insurance Companies". It cost me £7 to get it (ordered from local dealer).

When I went to get my indicators changed so that they flash with the remote key, my other local dealer said he needed the code for the computer - turns out it's the same code as on the card.

P.S. Apparantly, some dealers want to see Driving Licence & V5 as proof of ID.

My dealer confirmed that they are not issued with the car at the request of the insurance companies [?]

That is indeed correct.

Now what I'd like to know is WHY !!!!

Hi
I think what your talking about is the vehicle identification number which is supplied by national security database and only your dealer can request it.

Your dealer has to request it for you and you have to provide i.d of yourself to the dealer (i.e passport etc).Details i think can be found in your handbook.

We got ours a few weeks ago as we wanted the flashing lights.

We also got the sat nav updated to 9.7 (which is included in warranty)

Think the overall charge was less than £30

Was suspicious that I didn't get the card referred to in the manual when I picked the car up last year. My dealer isn't there any more and I'd like to get the flashing indicators sorted at my 24K service. Can I get the code card from any dealer? How long does it take (silly question I know)? and can anyone recommend a dealership within striking distance of Milton Keynes who might have some hope of knowing what I'm on about.

Hi

i can't recommend dealer in Milton Keynes, but I do know that any dealer should be able to provide u with the VIN.

Don't forget you will need the log book and i.d of yourself.
The dealer will then obtain it from the national security place. They should be able to do it all within an hour or two (u know what these garages r like!!)

Good luck

Is Hertford too far for you? Desira in Hertford are joint Alfa and Fiat and seem to understand all codes, electronics, etc. It's probably about an hour's drive for you but if it gets you sorted...
