Hiya all.
After much deliberation and soul searching I decided to stuff the norm favour of the sexy lines and uniqueness of the Stilo. Must admit at first I was well unsure, I know the safer bet was the Focus, but God how common!! Just hope Ive done the right thing. The car sure is growing on me, 1.8 Dynamic 3 door in crystal green, looks so cool, apart from the back which Im too sure on. The drive is also pretty unique, love the suspension and 'city' steering. I am finding the engine a tad grough at times tho especially at higher revs, I am right in thinking that it will smooth out in time?(only 150miles) Any other 1.8 drivers out there with an opinion??

Cheers Bosie..:I

Can't comment on the 1.8 engine (mine's a 2.4) but agree with you all the way about the 3-door and it's looks. It's also great when you see the thousands (literally!) of Focus and Golf sheep who couldn't choose a car on their own if they wanted to.

Well done on a great choice!

I've done just over 6000 miles in mine and it's starting to loosen up a bit. But it still feels quite tight. I'm hoping it'll be a lot better at about 10k.

I have to say it's a great car, can be a tad heavy on fuel if you like to have fun!! But again that's getting better, up to 40mpg.

ESP is great fun to test - very clever system.

If you find any interesting Mods for the 1.8 let me know.

It gets better, done 3,250 miles in mine and it seems to be improving although mine is Diesl.
Check your software.
Had mine upgraded to 9.7 from 8.5. See other postings.
It does seem to make a differnce.

Many thanks for the replies folks. Not sure about the software side of things
tho HAM, does that only relate to the JTD and not 1.8 petrol.
Ta..Bosie..:I

I think it applies to all models as it will cure some of the other problems.i.e.SatNav screeching.

I've just booked mine in to dealer for a New Rear Subframe Bushes and they said there was a software upgrade to sort out Throttle Response and other issues, for my car, which is a 1.8 16v. Also while it's in they said they'll make the indicators flash when opening / closing.

Good result as I didn't have to argue, they appeared quite knowledgable about the rear suspension / software upgrade. (Makes a change)

I'll let you know if it makes a difference.

Mines done 12000 and is as smothe as a baby ass. Been back in dealers today to sort out some scratches they did the indicators flashing lock/unlock while it was in.What all this bussines about software upgrade? What does it acheive?

New Bushes etc on Rear Suspension and it's like a new car, very quiet. Software has been upgraded, and whether it's psychological or not it does seem to drive smoother and a little more responsive.

I have to say NO complaints about Reg Vardy as their engineer also thought the front suspension geometry might be out (A known stilo fault - which causes tyre wear) so they were going to make a warranty claim to Fiat to get 2 new tyres and re set the suspension etc. Reg Vardy said they would call me when they get a response from Fiat...Next Day !!, I get a call, claim sorted, booked in for next week.

Having looked very closely at the fron tyres I can't say they look abnormally worn after 7000 miles but, if they say it needs new ones!!! I'm OK with that.

Altogether very happy with the car.:)

Hi folks..Ham
Not been perfect with my car im afraid. Main prob with a squeaky/clunky loose clutch pedal esp when warm, also drivers foot heater not working, and the indicators are pretty shabby. Taking it back to dealer next week for check up, it best get sorted, im not standing for no crap. Hopefully it'll be ok but iam a bit wary of other things going wrong to! Never bought a new car before so im a touch dissapointed. Overall though the car is pretty good, certainly get some looks! Love the feel/handling, tho Iam finding the engine a little bit rough/rattly esp at higher revs at times, tho only done 800miles so time to run it in yet, it may be related to the clutch issue anyway. Time will tell if the car starts to run as it should(perfect to me), if not then I may have to think about trading it..Be a shame tho.
