Hey FF .my first post:D..ive searched and searched but found nothing conclusive - and its such a shame most people start threads with issues but never return to state how they solved their problem

Got a 2003 1.6 stilo

My symptoms..

Two weeks ago noticed a slight judder when accelerating almost as if it lost power and got it back again within a second and think it was the engine light that came on and went straight away did this a couple of times

Few days later the car started cutting out whilst driving - did it 3times in 2days -luckily it turns over straight away so im able to drive away.."loose connection alternator failure" error messages on the dash

Few days later a short trip to newagent in the morning, when i return back to my car "loose connection security failure" unable to start engine - i return later that night and drive away.

My reliable independant garage have told me they cannot find a fault hahaha So im stuck and dont want to drive the car with a newborn baby knowing its capable of this?

What do you think the problem is? What do i do? Do i take it to fiat (how much for a test) or get a thorough search of the vehicle somewhere else even though my garage stated they couldnt find anything.some threads suggest it could be the ECU? What do you think? How much to get it repaired or replaced? Or is this not the case? Also I need to keep costs at a minimum

Any ideas or help would be really grateful..Thank you.

Thanks fender..battery was checked along with alternator at the garage.

Sounds like an immobiliser problem trying the spare key might help. You should also get your garage to see if theres any fault codes stored and post them here. Goodluck

Thanks -Garage informed me that there were no fault codes coming from the ECU ..got no spare key:confused:

Ok Thanks ..do you repair them too? Im not sure what to do really but before i decide I wanted to know if others on here had there ECU replaced due to similar issues?

Did you repair the radio ou change it? I have repair my original radio because didnt capture stations and the repair enter in electronic conflict.
It did the same simptons and i have too a 1.6.
If you change anyting in radio disconnect it and see if occurs.

Thanks - the radio hasnt been touched since i had the car (few years now)

Hi I have the same problem with my diesel wagon. its been in the garage for nearly a week. I went to collect this afternoon and it still won't drive, just shuts down after a few seconds. need help PLease

Hi Stilo all fixed. I phoned Fiat direct, got a shocking reply that they didn't even want me to bring it down and wasn't worth them looking at it. So I found a very good auto sparks and they came ou,t checked it over and replaced the digital barrel £300 all in.

Have a look on here for the cam shaft sensor.

It affected my JTD with slightly different symptoms but its about £30 from a motor factors and if you've got some high axel stands and a bit of patience you can change it yourself.

Have a look at my profile at "Threads ive started" Im sure there's one that leads to the camshaft sensor.

10am - whats a digital barrel?? Anyone?

mines booked in for a advanced diagnostics this weekend..appears like this loose connection fault is very common

I have got this same problem my cars bin in the garage for a week and im slowly loosing the will to live worst thing I ever bought!
