Re: meta alarm problems

pretty sure dealers have altered setting on car stereo as it now comes on every time ign is switched on and searched threads about it is this the better option as cant be left on by mistake?also searched rad fan issues, any chance a temp switch fault set radiator fan on and then that set off alarm.will check tommorow to find connections/switch.

Re: meta alarm problems

only had one faulty meta system in 16-17 years odd (well faulty ultrasonic box) & no I'm not associated with them but have fitted hundreds of alarms.

are we saying here that the alarm is bringing the rad fan on?

When I first got my Stilo, I had the after market alarm fitted by the dealer who I bought the car from. The car was brand new ordered from Fiat as I wanted a Dynamic with Connect Nav. The car arrived, I had it for the weekend before taking it back the following Monday for the alarm fitting. 10 minutes after parking the car on the drive at home with the alarm set, the alarm went off. I took it back to the dealers who parked it outside the showroom for a day before phoning me to collect the car as the alarm had not gone wrong. This went on for a few weeks, back and forth the the dealership before they eventually told me the ultra sonic sensor module was faulty and they had replaced it. I took the car home and continued to have problems, the dealer replaced the siren and when I tested it instead of the siren sounding, the alarm still went off but only the indicators flashed. After numerous parts were replaced, the dealer decided I was imagining there was a problem and they were not going to do any more work on the alarm. So I tried the alarm over the weekend and videoed the faults and got the dealer to replace the whole alarm system. Thankfully I have not had a problem since and the dealer put the problem down to a faulty batch of alarms.

Alarm movement sensor (meta)

Is the movement sensor in the 3 door car the same as the 5 door car?

Once I know this then I can finally fit the aftermarket alarm!

got elearn to work , just need to know the above and buy the one on e bay and then i'll post pics of the installation. i suspect i'll have to "modify" the movement sensors to the after market ones but that should be easy. i hope!

Re: meta alarm problems

bugger, thought this had gone away as ive had no more alarm going off but noticed a wheel center cover not in properly and gave it a knock, this set the alarm off and low and behold the radiator fan started up as well, where to start looking now possible shorts or is the meta supposed to be wired into the rad fan for overun when hot so alarm doesnt go off.

I have to say mate, thats an amusing series of events! :D

I apparently have an alarm fitted to my Stilo but it doesnt flash to show it being armed or beep... I have the little sensor at the front (Middle of the vent in front of the windscreen) but just need to figure out which fuse it is... I thought it was F39 but thats turned out to be the interior light :bang:

That's the sun sensor for the Climate Control if fitted. If you don't have Climate Control, then it's just an empty plastic cover.

The ultrasonic sensors for the alarm are in the overhead interior light switch panel.

If you want the indicators to flash, the function can be switched on by a dealer. There's numerous threads on this on the forum.

Dave.

That would explain it that then! Well a fiat specialist pulled up my car on eper and it states it has an alarm... I tried locking myself in the car and pulling out the F39 fuse to see if it would trigger the alarm and got nothing... The guy thought it had been deactivated but I dont see why it would be?

Re: meta alarm problems

Only going by what I've seen on here.

And can never get eLearn to work :(

All you see on here is not gospel. ;)

If you have climate control, the air output temperature sensors are built into the heater casing and control the amount of hot air that's mixed with cold.

The sun sensor measures the sun's intensity and adjusts the proportion of hot air output accordingly.

I assume you realise that you have to partialy install eLELARN and have the disk in the drive for it to work. If you've done that and it still doesn't work, you may have a duff copy. (eBay?)

We'll going by what is also fitted in the mk3 Panda's (similar split zone climate control) you also need a cabin temp sensor to see what temp the cabin is. Its not only sun that will factor cabin temperature.

So if thats the sun sensor then where is the cabin temp sensor then?

And no, wasn't eBay eLearn. :(

As far as I know, Stilo only has temperature sensors in the air outlet ducts in the heater casing so it can only measures air temperature at the left and right outlets. I've never seen a cabin temperature sensor or seen one on the wiring diagram.

Maybe it's the eBay eLEARN CDs that do work then. I've bought a few of them, they all work but unfortunately have some sections and diagrams missing.

Where did you get a yours from?

Dave.

Downloaded it from a reputable source, done what it said and downloaded it. Burnt image to disk but it's never worked (n)

Think its probably me being a tit and doing something wrong though as other have always managed ok.
