Re: ££$$ Price for fiat to fit upgrade brio alarm! $$££

I had the Brio alarm fitted soon after I bought my car & the alarm itself was £127:27 & the charged me £100 to fit it. That was at DBS Desira in Hertford.

1st up, it doesn't take a day to fit an alarm.

and 2nd, for £300+ pounds you'd be better off sourcing an aftermarket alarm such as Toad or Clifford because you get alot more for your money and they fit it at your work or home (so you can make sure its not a bodge job ie Fiat).

Also fiat normally fit Meta alarms which I had on my old punto which was **** poor to say the least and for the £250 I spent I could have got alot better elsewhere.

All the best with your choice though :)

4.5 hours for Thatcham cat one plus extra 0.5 for wiring into Stilo door.
I have never had(or known of) a faulty Meta alarm in 9 years of fitting them.
Bodge job? cant be if its Thatcham approved.If the car is found to have not been fitted to Thatcham standards you will lose your insurance claim therefore you have to claim from dealer :rolleyes:
Ask only the electrician at dealership to fit it & sign the certificate with his approved number.
Someone wants your car they will get it not matter what system you fit,car thefts are on the decline....thefts from cars are not though so aslong as it has ultrasonic protection & you keep your valuables from sight(or not in car)there is not much else you can do.

fitting brio alarm/parts for it!

Rite... after buying my brio fiat alarm off ebay (As brand new)! Ive decided to fit it myself as fiat wanted £177! After looking through the instruction it seems im missing part 'G' the remote control (M882us) isn't there?! Do i need this or did the people who have the alarm get this part with theres? as i thought the alarm was activated by using the standard key remote?

any help would be appreciated!

Re: fitting alarm.(stilo)

Apart from all the obvious items, does this alarm also come with the replacement roof console to provide extra switches to turn ON/OFF the volumetric & jacking sensors?

Re: fitting alarm.(stilo)

Alarm siren goes under scuttile panel near wiper linkage and wires into main fuse box near engine. The rest wires and control box go up and to the wiring near the body computer and fusebox. An led to fit on the dash and the sonics on the 'A' pillars. No running wires through bulkhead or through doors ect. The existing remotes on your car are used and the can system.

Good question, but I very much doubt it, do you?
Nope!:p

Unless I could recreate the original factory fitted version then I don't think I'd bother. (Only £150 as a factory option seems remarkably cheap to me - the price you pay for being the 2nd owner I guess)

Strange how a thread asking for helps becomes a thread full of questions!;)

Here's a couple::)

Any pointers on price and availability?

Does it include an "anti-jacking" sensor?

Do the volumetric sensors include switches to disable them (instead of from the upper console as per previous post)?

Thanks.(y)

Meta Alarm Programming

I have tried to change the mode of my factory fitted meta alarm, following the below steps. There was no success. Is there anybody that managed to do that? The helpful information was found in a sticky thread of rroope's.
I am not sure about step 1. and 4. By ignition ON, do you mean turning the key to the self-tests, or turn the key even further to start the engine too?
Also, do I have to turn on the front lights too? If the front lights aren't on the fog lights does not activate.
Anyway after trying the below procedure I wasn't been able to hear the 5 beeps that signal the programming mode activation.
I hope I have the factory fitted alarm because I have the roof console with the volumetric sensors and the alarm is activated by remote on the stilo's keys.

Factory Fitted Alarm Settings.
During the end of line PROXI the COUNTRY MODE of the alarm is memorized (default: EEC) and can be altered by the service network using the following procedure:

1. Turn the Ignition ON.
2. Turn the Hazard Warning Lights ON.
3. Press and HOLD the Rear Fog Lamp button.
4. Using the ignition key carry out the following sequence in strict order: key off (< 2 s), key on (< 1s), key off, starting from the key on state and keeping the Rear Fog Lamp button pressed.
5. At the end of the sequence the siren will beep 5 times to confirm that the programming has been activated.
6. Release the Rear Fog Lamp switch and press it again the same number of times as the desired mode (if the button is pressed for an invalid number of times, the siren will beep 5 times and the procedure will be cancelled).
7. Turn the Ignition ON within 10 seconds of pressing the rear fog lamp switch for the last time.
8. The siren will beep the same number of times as the operating mode selected.
9. At the end of the beeps, turn the Ignition OFF; the Body Computer is programmed for the new operating mode.

Operating Modes are as follows:

* MODE 1: Default Mode (EEC)
* MODE 2: GB
* MODE 3: Belgium
* MODE 4: Holland
* MODE 5: World
* MODE 6: Temporary Market
* MODE 7: "Range"

There are slight differences, and I'll try and post them up soon!
