I spoke to Celtic Tuning which they also do a remap similar if not same as Angel Tuning to 155 bhp for the same price 295 quids.

From what i was told from Celtic Tuning.
"The 115bhp engine we can take to 170bhp but you would need to buy some
samco hoses or equivalent because the standard turbo pipes are quite weak on these, although 155bhp you will have absolutely no problems."

"The Cat, exhaust and manifold are not limiting factors on these engines at the 170bhp level. One thing you will have trouble with over time at 170bhp is
your clutch. You're going from about 300nm to 420+nm and the standard clutch will not take too much abuse for too long. Valeo do a 20% up rated clutch as standard but the preference would be an aftermarket clutch setup."

From what Alfanige (Angel Tuning) told me.
"The remap alone can take the JTD to silly amounts on its own and is only restricted by the manifold and cat."

"If you are wanting to go the whole hog (include manifold + downpipe) then you will have to do the exhaust first as the 155+ will cause you problems. If you want to do it in stages we will do the 155 for you now, then up it to 170+ when you have the exhaust done"

Now i'm really confused...................................

It all depends on your financial situation. Basically what Nige is saying is that you should do the 155bhp conversion first then when you can afford the exhaust he'll up the power afterwards. (y)

thx for the reply bennyboy

but financial situation is not the main point to consider.

it is which is the truth as in Celtic Tuning is correct about 170bhp only needs some hoses and a new clutch and not what Angel Tuning say that i need to change the whole exhaust system right from manifold.

because there really is not much point when the parts are capable of it and not required changing.

If you go over the 155 threshold I would agree with Nige that you will need the exhaust as you will be running a lot higher boost so you'll need something to carry the gases away quicker plus it'll allow the turbo to spin up quicker making it more drivable & reliable. No offence to the other tuning company that you spoke to but silicon hoses just look pretty their only benefit is that you should never need to replace them. If your going the whole hog then you will need the exhaust because at that kind of output you'll need to change the back pressure. (y)

i totally see what u mean.

it would be great if anyone at all have reached 155bhp+ on their JTD stilo, and hear their opinions.

anyone?

just pm'd blackjtd.

i wouldnt bother asking stu as he's got a different car...therefore different parts?

only 1 person here remapped jtd stilo to 170bhp?..................

Celtic Tuning are using the exact same equipment as us from the same company and will be using very similar maps with the same results. They opened up for business a couple of weeks ago on what looks like our business model lol! Good luck to them, I am kind of flattered.
What isnt quite true is the new clutch - there are no uprated clutch' available unfortunately and you are stuck with the originals.
Through extensive testing and many, many Stilo's remapped later we know exactly what the issues are and what needs to be done.

so no one here had it to 170bhp?! thats a surprise....

Tell you what, if you come to us, we will bang the power up on yours and show you what happens -

We can also give you a trial with just a remap on for 2 weeks at the optimum without any further modifications - see what you think

Would i get less power at low revs then if i had a remap????? cause that's the most important thing for everyday use

BHP doesn't win the race, torque does! Don't err on big bhp at the loss of low rpm torque!

Not on a turbocharged engine that's only normally aspirated because with an NA engine the only way to get more power is by making it rev higher & faster.

Good God no!
You wil have masses of low down torque - come and try it.... we don't bite :)

nige..
can u give me a quote of the 155bhp to 170bhp conversion?
listing the parts if possible.
i guess u can get the parts and fitted?
