The simple answer is: By topping it up. If it pours out it was already full...

It's Tutela Technyx transmission oil 75W-85. You'll need about 1.8 litres - maybe a bit less. Just fill it till it starts flowing out of the filler hole.

Just under 2L,

Does it matter what brand is used as long as its 75w-80 as I am looking at changing the oil tomorrow and I might not be able to find that brand local.

re: Checking oil in 1.2, 16 valve, 6 speed gearbox.

Tip:

when changing oil in a gearbox or differential (RWD) always (and i mean ALWAYS) break loose the filler plug before you do the drainplug.
It's quite embarrassing if the filler plug is stuck and the oil is already drained.

Any chance on uploading those pictures please as I have had a look and I cant find the drain bolt. The only ones I can find is a allen key bolt and about 3 inches lower and 13mm bolt, both are on the front.

Is it the big hex to the left of the drive shaft in the upper picture?

Ah, I think I see it now. So it's a sunken hex, like the filler plug? Must say it is very obscure. No wonder everyone had such a problem finding it. Many thanks for posting the pics.

Yep it is, like you say a little hidden, took me on my second attempt to find it. When you look at the gearbox as a whole though it's in a logical place as its at the very lowest point of the box
