Hello all,
After the birth of my second child, the Panda has become a bit too small for me and the family.

This evening, I am picking up a Fiat Stilo!!

Fiat Stilo 1.6 Dynamic
33k miles on the clock
Full leather interior
Digital Climate control
Adding Cruise Control in the very near future.

The car's cambelt has jumped a tooth (or more). Will be sorted over the weekend, new cambelt, tensioners and more than likely, a few valves! Is there anything else I should be looking out for?

What do you think of FM transmitters for iPod? I've read posts on here regarding setting up using the CD changer input, but is sooo much hassle.

Anyway, can't wait to get into this beautiful running Stilo. Seriously considering ice white headlight upgrades as I think it'll look sharp against the black :)

More pics coming soon.(y)

Hi and welcome to the stilo section (y)

FM transmitter is a no-go in my opinion, the sound is crackly and bad overall. Instead of the cd changer you could go for an emulator which has aux in (dension ice link was one of them).

Quick question, what's the year of the stilo? When you go to get the car, make sure you check the front tyres on the inside, as stilos have a tendency to eat the from tyres on the inside.

Also check the radio is working (mine wasn't working didn't pick up any FM signal). Check all fluids.

About the cruise control, make sure the car is predisposed (if it's pre-03 then it is more than probable that it is).

Good luck with the cam belt!

Oh, and congrats to you and your family!

Andy

congrats mate, you will find the stilo a very family friendly car, we have two multiwagons (a 1.6 and jtd) and they manage to take us all over the country in our holidays with all our camping gear - we have 3 kids, 1 8 year old and 2 4 year old twins so ours get A LOT OF USE!!

i agree about the fm transmitters, ive tried a number of them and they never quiet work correctly for me, the best thing i done was rip out the hu and put in a pioneer dvd / bluetooth / divx / multizone machine and put screens in the back. I have a 500gb hard drive i store in the secret compartment and now i never have any cds in the car.

What model have you got 3 door, 5 door or the multiwagon (estate)
The 1.6 engine is an interferace engine like all stilos but if the belt has jumped 1 or two teeth i very much doubt any damage would have occured, you would have had engine light up, and the car may run like a pig and stall but unless the car was reving near the limit i doubt it would have any more damage. They do have to be spot on timing wise though, any drift will cause you problems as i found when our old belt had stretched over 10-15 teeth by 1 tooth.
the stilos generally a very nice car, and a bit of an underated car imho, the cars value drops like stones but they always get the job done.
They are cheap to insure and generallly cheap to run(well the tax used to be but that is no longer the case on the 1.6 petrol engines)

have fun with your new toy, im sure you will love it to pieces.....
