Technical sump plug seal

Does anybody know how the sump plug seals?

There doesn't appear to be any sealing face for a washer to seal against.

It has a tapered plug only- bit like a big grub screw which goes tight after a few turns.

Thanks for the reply fiattech.

Any tapered and parallel thread would need a thread sealant though, any paste or tape involved?
