are you sitting comfortably? Then i shall begin...

I drove upto work the other evening with lil 'un merrily kicking her feet and generally pepped up on e numbers and glucose in the passenger seat. I got to work and left her in the car, as i didnt feel a HGV workshop was an ideal place to let a wappy 3 year old loose... Sure enough annoyance and mischief ensued accompanied by flashing lights and horn beeping, much to the amusement of my work colleagues my unruly daughter was chucking her self round the interior of the car and playing 'peepo' with the gaffer... It wasnt until this morning that i realised that in her excitement shes fubarred my driverside centre air vent. The direction control is not connected to to the vanes and the open/close wheel is limp as if its not connected.

I had a quick go at sorting it today but after removing the lower screws i couldnt figure out how to remove the vent assembly from the dash... How do i remove it and once it is removed is it possible to reconnect the controls?
