I'm having a problem with my air conditioning, the compressor just don't work, maybe It don't have enought freon and to prevent overheating it doesn't turn on.

Can someone help me with this issue.

Thanks

Nelson, I too think I may need an A/C recharge. Can anyone tell me just how cold the air gets when set on LO with the A/C on? I've an Abarth and it gets cool but doesn't freeze my hand off? Am I expecting too much?

Also is there an easy to view (ha ha) site glass to check the Freon level?

No way of checking the gas I'm afraid as it has to be connected up to a machine that keeps the vaccum in. I don't know what temp it gets down to but why do you want it to be that cold anyway? most modern air con units only run down to around 10oc anyway. Try checking your owners handbook it might tell you in there.

If your unsure on if its not cold enough then its probly not working correctly. As my AC when on is bloody cold if you put your hand in front of it. This happens usually if you don't use your AC very often as the seals dry up and can start a leak. I use mine at least once a week for a good 30min to prevent this.

@ Acordis,
Dave,
There's a VERY good A/C specialist in Congleton ( the name escapes me at the mo, but I found them in Yellow Pages) They refilled my last Rover for about a third of the cost of anyone else local.

Thank you guys,

It's fixed, it was a broken aluminium pipe, Fiat garage told me that maybe I pass over a rock or something like that.
I payed 40 € for the pipe, 80 € for the gas, around 210€ for everything.

Regards

@ Pongo,

Steve, onto yellow pages now, thanks for the tip. I'll confirm it to you by email just in case there are 2 in Congleton and I get the wrong one!!!

Cheers to everyone here for the info, I deffo think I'm a little short in the refrigerant department
