The dashboard on my stilo has stopped working ( no speedo rev counter petrol gauge back lights etc etc) it works very intermitintly it has not worked for the past week now but worked for 2 whole days prior to that, i have had the fuses checked and apparently they are ok, any help on finding the fault would be greatly appreciated.

Firsty welcome to FF, it's the instrument panel not dash that's failed. Have you removed it and checked the plug connections at the back of it
instrument panel removed, contacts cleaned and put back still no luck, have lost the clock as well now even though it wasn't at the correct time it was still there before but not now, any more suggestions please

Hi,

Instrument cluster failures are quite common on stilos, apparently.

Mine died too, but it works intermittently when it feels like it. I haven't yet bothered to sort the problem yet as it's not terminal.

However, when conducting my research, this mob look like the best shot:

http://clusterrepairsuk.co.uk/

They are familiar with the problem and will turn the job round in 24 hours for about a hundred quid.

Otherwise, its £500 plus for a new Fiat supplied cluster, which effectively consigns the car to the dustbin.

If you find a s/h one, good luck, but the part numbers must match exactly. I've tried myself, but they are like roching horse sh*t.

Good luck.

Well that's all a matter of opinion tbh. It's not overly common.

I'd say it's common enough - it appears on here a fair bit and there are probably many others who don't even use this Forum. Besides, it's the sort of part that should last the life of the car.

Mine makes some strange noises - humming & clicking when i switch on the ignition & a scratchy noise when the needles move, but it's done it since i bought the car so hopefully failure isn't imminent - i've spent enough on that car this year & it'll be making way for something else in 2012!
